Do Chinese people born in South Korea take up Korean names?

I was just wondering because there's a new guy in my roomshare who's carrying mail addressed to a Korean name, but the thing is I think he looks Chinese but I haven't seen him up close properly. As he's new and I don't want to offend I feel like I shouldn't ask so quickly.

do you know what a Chinese looks like? they are the most diverse east Asians, in fact they aren't even entirely east Asian. Don't Koreans have names on their IDs that are written in Chinese? every name can easily be translated into Korean.

what exactly does a chinese person look like??? there are literally billions of them and numerous ethnic groups like what.

Never judge anyone's ethnicity/nationality based on appearance.

I can tell the difference between Chinese/Korean/Japanese mostly, though sometimes Chinese/Korean can be harder. I basing this of a letter he left on the communal table. I haven't really spoken to him yet properly, maybe later, but I probably won't ask him what ethnicity he is quite yet.
