With a career would you rather: Dungeon or creative freedom

Dungeon: Stuck not releasing music for extended periods of time because of your label(This happens more often than people realize), only time you're allowed to release music is when the label feels it will be a major success

or

Creative freedom: Able to create music without label interference, with the chance of no one listening to it. It could flop, it could top charts, but it's your work instead. It could also mean the end of your career, it's just a major gamble in a nutshell.

Depends on if I have enough money to live on tbf. I prefer creative freedom but if I'm not that rich then I would rather make sure I can build up my bank account so I can be more independent / be able to live comfortable in the future

i wish this was more of an option, my favs had to work so hard for years to get creative freedom and had to finally just go until the contract ends to get creative freedom bc they gave in at the start and did what the label wanted, never getting to really do what they wanted. sometimes they even took away their credits on smash hits..

releasing music without a label is extremely expensive and it's mostly charity work rather than a real job, the majority of people i know have a secondary main job which is their main source for earning a living,. not sure about pop or hiphop but the people i know told me that their band equipments and stage setup is so expensive that the amount they earn from the music they sell can't make up for it,. which was the reason why i declined the offer to join their band,.

pop is blowing up because it's way less expensive to produce, reason we see indies on youtube now, without a label. lots of unsigned rappers have made it big thanks to the internet as well.

rock is just one of those gambles that can really hurt your wallet if you don't garner attention

It really sucks how much the music industry can get away with and people are just fine with taking advantage of especially young people. Are they doing better now?

considering the stories don't really hit general public there's no reason for it to change :\ most people probably don't even know the acts I'm talking about tbh

To think there are a lot of nugu groups out there that are being treated like shit that will never reach us sucks so much. It's all just so harsh

The reason why people go to companies, even at the risk of a dungeon, is because they want the help.

Even 1% of help from any company is better than what you can do alone.

So I would chose the dungeon cause at least there I'd get a chance to fight. While with creative freedom even my best work would flop when someone with a bigger fandom and more mediaplay would come along.

I mean, honestly most of us choose careers that don't allow much creativity and don't have guarantees of advancement (you could stay stuck in middle management, just because it's secure). So at the end of the day I think if people were being honest they'd probably choose the dungeon.
