Why is Ariana Grande popular in Japan if Japanese people prefer pale skin?

i think it's because they don't view her with their own standards of the female japanese celebrities

my guess is they look at her through the general beauty scale (because she's foreign to them of course)

also what did Yasuda Kei ever do to you omg

And that's not even her real skin tone tbh

If she was based in Asia, we might be seeing an Ariana with foundation way lighter than her actual skin tone

I legit just had a convo with my friends about how when she reaches her late 20's we'll probably see her go to paler skin to keep her youthful appearance thing she has going for her strong. I'm surprised she hasn't given up the tan at 25 yet considering east asian beauty seems very much up her alley.

If it's a fake tan, it doesn't age you though right?

(Dunno the science behind fake tans tbh)

I don't think Japanese has pale skin as their beauty standard.

There's a trend called ganguro (tanned skin girl). even the trend was in popularity around the year 2000, but remains evident today.

And i read somewhere before, Most Japanese avoid to get tanned not because the pale is beauty standart but for the health.

Ganguro goes against the typical Japanese beauty standards such as pale skin. smile.png

Pale skin is definitely more desirable for Japanese, but ofc some like a tanned look too but I can see why they wouldn't want to tan. It's so unhealthy for skin. I don't tan on sunbeds or outdoors because of the skin cancer risk.

Yes, as some people accept it, it may affect the beauty standard itself. Since the trend was 20 years ago.
