It has more to do with the "ssen" style, aka bad girl type I'd say. But even that's changing (see BP). Heck even 2NE1 managed to do so well digitally despite being "ssen". And SNSD RDR? People ate that shit up. I think it's just the trends that have changed and gg in kpop are way younger now than they were before. I mean a girl as old as Irene is being called old when Kahi was much older than her upon debut. For sure the mentality is there in terms of submissiveness, but I think sexy concepts are the least threatening of the types of badgirl concepts for hetero men. Yes, I'm sure. We all know Lovelyz wouldn't be caught dead in go-go boots. Never said it was just Hann. But Hann is the best equivalent out this year. Black Dress maybe a close 2nd. Nobody is going full on glam. K-Pop girl groups these days favor youth. I get that already. Rose tinted glasses? Eh. I never stanned that many 2nd gen girl groups either.
