iKON's Leader and Producer BI is the top earner domestically in the first half of this year

He lead, he compose, he wrote dem lyrics, he can choreograph, he do stage planing, he rap, he is the main producer. Boy is hella talented. He deserves all the greatness came his way. YG better treat him good before he do what he advised his trainee self to do --to run away lol.

Stan talent stan Kim Hanbin. Stan a hard worker stan Kim Hanbin. Stan a great leader stan Kim Hanbin.

That's almost certainly wrong. Given BTS's much higher digital index and the 1.7m+ $25~ albums they shifted in the first half (Tear alone), the highest royalty earner  would be RM by far.

Still, BI is obviously doing great. I wonder how much more money he has than his bandmates.

Love scenario was used 860M+ times? Damn that’s a lot of moneyyyyyyy no wonder he’s making bank

864m was their first half digital index, which is pretty much an arbitrary number that only the fools at gaon understand. Most estimates had it streamed 110m - 115m times in the first half of the year plus maybe 1.75m downloads. Based on 4.2 won per play (or $0.0037. Yikes...), it would have earned 472,500,000 won domestically from streaming. That's $417,149 split between its 5 writers and 5 other bandmates. The downloads for the first half must've  been about 1.75m, but song downloads are incredibly cheap in Korea,

As the lead writer, producer and a performer, BI would get a much bigger % than the other contributors. But the sad fact is that nobody is making a lot of money from $0.0037 per stream. That's less than spotify.

Why do you think they only get payed for stream on stream sites. How about the fact that it has played on TV as BGM for so many variety shows, on so many kdramas literally non stop. Not to mention orchestras, children end year shows and other musicians covering it? It is one of the most popular songs to ever happen in Korea. He gets payed a lot for those too and are counted as royalties as far as I know.

Also he is the main for the royalties as you said and so he gets a lot more. RM is listed 4th+ on most group songs so he gets less percentage right? I would say Pdogg gets most of the money.

not really since he's never listed 1st.. or 2nd... or 3rd? on songs so he gets a MUCH lower percentage. B.I is THE producer and listed first, always. If you said Pdogg, bts's producer, then it is a different story. Also, they're talking digital music royalties.. why are you bringing physical album sales into this?

Do not make conclusions when you obviously have no idea how much the person you tried comparing with gets. I'm sure an article that has data to back them up has a bit more credibility than..... your assumptions.

- Wrong. The statement doesn't specify digital only, simply domestic royalties. It says: "So, who is the top prize in domestic music royalty this year? In the first half of the year alone, the group icon leader and singer-songwriter BI (BI) was reported to have earned the highest income. BI was responsible for writing and composing all of the iconic albums, including "I Loved You" by singing along with adults as well as kindergarten and elementary school students."

- I was speaking of idol writers.

- "I'm sure an article that has data to back them up". Well, no. They only said that BI was "reported" as number one. In the areas where they had actual data (mainly just about royalty breakdowns), they stated it. They also suggested that LS was "used" 841m times, which is incorrect and a red flag. That's actually the Gaon index, which is a useless secret formula.

In any case, I'm not here to get in a typical pathetic 1H argument. Personally, I prefer Ikon to BTS. I'm just questioning the holes in this article, as people should always do. It certainly is funny how, on this forum, journalism is only "credible" when it's positive about your fave. Otherwise it's "mediaplay"

Somebody always downplaying â˜ï¸.

Anyways, congratulations to BI.

You may want to find yourself a dictionary because "BI is obviously doing great" doesn't come under the definition of "downplaying".

If you read the article, which is about royalties that the KOMCA pays out, they do include overseas royalties. However, it's less than 5% of what the KOMCA pays out.

Yes, you were downplaying

Your supposed facts are all wrong. You come in here to downplay B.I just to hype up your faves and bring irrelevant facts. This IS about royalties for digitals (4.2 won per stream... is it not obvious?)

The only one starting a pathetic sad argument is you by trying to downplay so meh.

either way, Hanbin is songwriter of the year, produced the song of the year, AND made the most royalties, domestically, as a producer. I know it's a hard pill to swallow since you lot think your faves should get everything, but that's the truth.

Why are some armies acting like they don't know that While RM can compose,he is always working on Bts songs with like a million other composers(am obviously exaggerating, but like I was looked at the list of composers for a bts album and went wow, like he can compose I don't know why Bighit always insist of making him work with other bts producers),and those composers have to be given thier cut too after the company have taken theirs too.Bts hit big with LYS:t,but RM wasn't even in the top 2 of list of producers, while BI gets all the money for ls.So off course he will mirage the idol who earned most from royalties this year, because he made a ht and didn't have to share the money with 3 other people like RM had to
