When it comes to music rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, I tend to play on Expert Guitar, but it depends on a few factors: What difficulty tier the song is on, how fast the said song is, how well it is charted, etc,.

Normal most of the time if I feel the game is hard I'll jump to easy. Otherwise keep it to normal or if its too easy I'll bump it into hard. No regrets since a too easy game is something I'll never finish and if its too hard the same thing and I tend to just want to finish a game before moving on.

On CoD campaigns (or almost any FPS/TPS game) I tend to start at Recruit to get a taste of the story first, then I bump it up to Regular once I’m familiar with the story.

Have you tried Veteran on cod? When I was into cod that's the only difficulty I played xD

It all depends on the level of the game. Sometimes you realize that the game is difficult and it is better to start from an easy level. In other cases, you can enable advanced mode. It all depends on how well you understand the game and your level of training. It’s like dota 2 betting more here. It all depends on your knowledge and skills.
