Is a manga collection worth it?

I used to collect manga and comics as a teenager, kept them for quite a long while, but they eventually just took up space. I ended up selling them to fans, or selling them as scrap paper when no-one took interest in them. I still have a few around, but only the series I liked the most and have more sentimental value, but I don't even read those anymoer; they're pretty much decoration at this point.

Point is, you might like them for a few years, but you might eventually grow tired of them, so I suggest collecting only those that you truly like, and not just passing interests.

Only manga I collect recently is Innocent by Shinichi Sakamoto even though I already read it online because I wanna support his work & because his art is stunning. I still have my old manga collection, never threw it away even tho the extra space would be appreciated... Flipping thru them brings back memories. lovestruck.png

Nowadays I mostly read online. Like I said manga collections take space and $$$ so for me it has to be something I truly love.

if you think that you'll get enjoyment out of collecting them, then yeah i'd say it's worth it. if you're unsure if you like it or not, try collecting one or two series at first which you really like. that way you still end up with something nice even if collecting doesn't turn out to be your thing.

some people could argue that it's a waste of money, because you might grow out of it etc. but imo that's the case with pretty much anything that you buy so i wouldn't let that discourage you too much. also only start collecting when you're sure that you're financially able to do so. sadly i've seen a lot of people who start collecting stuff, and end up getting themselves in debts because they want to make their collection bigger and bigger without having the money to provide for that.

Yes, but if you're planning on collecting manga then only get the ones that you'll now you'll love. There's no point in collecting something that you'll get bored of easily. I can easily go back and reread the manga that I've collected since that's how enjoyable I originally found reading those manga. I like to collect limited editions since they're quite cool (but they tend to be quite rare and expensive TT).

I got addicted to buying manga, every time I went to a book store I'd want to buy more but it really takes up too much space and it should really be only manga that you care about because I was even collecting manga where I couldn't remember the last volume I bought and I'd end up with more than one copy of some volumes.  Now I'm thinking of just donating it all to the library.

Totally worth it , if I had money and understood japanese I would have brought all physical books of my favorite mangas , I still have my yugioh cards and they were like my treasure as child , so if I could collect mangas I would have done so too
