Do you consider K-rock apart of Kpop? Or is it, it's own scene?

I'm listing kpop groups and through the years I find a surge of 'rock bands' on kpop like Broken Valentine, and I skip them as I haven't decided if I'm adding them yet.

I'm also not as knowledgable on the krock end, how closely it ties to the roots of what we know as kpop. Some people wouldn't consider duos as a group, but they have a big part of the early years of kpop. Hiphop and r&b influence can still be felt to this day in mainstream kpop, so I added hiphop groups.

Should I add k-rock groups? Is it big enough and different enough to consider it's own scene?

hmm nah I don't think so

pop and rock are separate genres so it shouldn't be any different in korea

This is how I feel about it but that's also being influenced by my ignorant ass cuz i know nothing about krock whew

It depends. Groups like FT Island and CN Blue would fall under the kpop sphere imo because of how they are “packaged.†A group like Guckkasten would not.

oh god, i have enough on my plate with researching for this. i already added them anyhow they're not moving

0u0plz.png hope krock bands make it obvious for me where they stand!

For me, Kpop is a lot about the production side and if a group is put together by the company and sold like an idol group, I'm going to think of them more within Kpop sphere. If they're kind of their own entity who just happen to be signed under a label, they're more of K-rock

That's how I view it too. N.Flying, CNBlue, Day 6? Kpop. Hyukoh, The Rose, Nell? Krock.
