GodYezi 102
Lately I've noticed people use this weird doubling of some words to accentuate the meaning. Like "thats lit lit", "he's smart smart" and stuff like that. Who started this all? lol
solis 10,336
dunno but it's been around for a pretty long time because people used to say things like "do you like him? or do you like-like him?" on old shows from like the 90s

hehe haha xd 3,081
i knew about using "really really" before but I haven't heard people repeat other words until recently.. do you want me to explain it in detail? repeating words in English is normal, its called modifying nouns specifically. its not a "how did it start", it always has been part of the english language. for instance when someone says "its not a book, its a book book" the first book modifies the second one, it shows that it is not just any book its what a book should be. Repeating the same word for emphasis or some kind of modifier I meant the stupid part lol, I genuinely think English is a stupid language ngl. but yes, it happens in most languages, repetition is always used to solidify nouns/meanings.
