Not surprised since the director crying bc of the positive reviews melted everyone including me but objectively rdr2 should have won as the only thing ppl found to criticize was bc it was "too realistic"

IMO GoW has that fresher point than RDR2. I mean, RDR2 is like the greatly improved version from RDR which already liked (including gameplay)  + adding some new element, and GoW is a reboot with a new gameplay, different from the OG GoW. That's a big plus IMO.

dont get me wrong, i love red dead redemption 2, but as a whole GOW deserved GOTY

it felt like a much more fulfilling gaming experience and red dead felt bloated at times

they're both fantastic games, but GOW was just so much better imo

God of war felt so good to play and I loved the story and narrative. So glad the game won GOTY since its the only game this year that really had me at the end like... "Wow.... Is this really the end" and feeling emotionally strong for both Kratos and Atreus. But I want more. Need an expansion or just a sequel cause I have so many questions about it and hearing Kratos say "boy" never gets old. Expected it since July when I first played it

I really don't agree, RDR2 really wasn't the best game this year, it wasn't even top3 for me. But the cult-following is strong with this one, and the hype overrrated as well. RDR2 already won too many awards it didn't really deserve (best voice actor, really? Arthur Morgan's voice is a boring bland snoozefest and absolutely not memorable in the least, welp. Best OST? Puh-lease, Spiderman, ACOdyssey & GoW were far more memorable and impactful, ugggghhhgh). At least not seeing RDR2 win GOTY made it somewhat OK for all the rest, I guess, but I totally would have snapped if it had won it as well. GoW truly deserved this GOTY, I have nothing but praise about this game. Well maybe some criticism here and there, but not anywhere near the list of grievances I have about RDR2. GoW has been the gaming experience I enjoyed the most out of all the AAA games I played this year, the one that has left the most memorably good impression, followed by ACOdyssey, Spiderman & Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

GOW had it the moment the orchestra played in 2016 at E3, you could feel that it was going to be a game-changer.
