After the TV program ended, many comments like these came up on twitter. “I was distracted by Hirate’s lazy dancingâ€, “What’s wrong with Hirate….??? What was that lifeless feeling about, is she ok???†and “I felt worried while watching Hirate today… I kept staring at her the whole time even though I only saw it once†(Source: Girls Channel)

1. [+2,477, -56] If you don’t care, how about you quit? It’s rude to the members who are performing seriously.

2. [+1,715, -15] They shouldn’t have to have an absolute ace. Give the center to the other girls.

3. [+1,554, -18] The difference in her movements from the PV www

a457f9ffe3fb8570212a96de56447e50_4485.gi

4. [+1,060, -18] The fans are worried? We, the other viewers, felt completely uncomfortable. There’s no need for an idol who won’t smile. Idols who are bright are just fine.

5. [+1,057, -8] Does she not think it’s rude to show a lack of motivation. I guess it’s just that kind of business then.

6. [+1,060, -12] More than that what’s up with her hair

7. [+942, -15] Why is this kid the center alone….

8. [+790, -6] Honestly she doesn’t look like an idol. Scary

9. [+687, -9] Even though, she was cute during the Silent Majority era, this hairstyle she has right now is strange too...

10. [+587, -25] She isn’t cute right

11. [+540, -4] If you’re not gonna sing, at least dance correctly

12. [+433, -9] I watched it. Her dancing was light, I wonder if she’s ok? Is she not feeling well? Because she wasn’t lip-syncing and her lips were slightly trembling

13. [+424, -5] I saw it, she was barely moving her body and her mouth didn’t move at all wwww. Move your mouth! Because you’re supposed to be singing! www

14. [+331, -8] Is this a new topic?

15. [+295, -5] It was an empty performance wasn’t it.

16. [+228, -9] I’m sorry that was extremely uncomfortable to watch.

17. [+216, -7] It made me laugh. Shouldn’t you quit, if you don’t care

18. [+66, -3] Her outfit and just about everything looks so tacky….

honeslty she's been seeming kind of...down this year. i wasn't sure if it was the song's concept but ive watched some performances of theirs from this year and she's no where near as intense as she used to be. her eyes are always covered up and looking downwards (but she does hit all the moves).

she's under a ton of pressure from being seventeen, being the center of such an intense group, and having all these solo activities. i fell bad for her. i hope someone else becomes center soon, for the sake of her health and also having someone else shine.

She's been very busy this year. She shot her first feature film, and has been working on more projects outside Keyaki. It's going to be hard for her to maintain a high level of performance with this kind of schedule. They need to make a decision about whether to keep Hirate as the sole Center for all the title tracks. Management can't continue to have her do everything.

I haven't been following these promotions that closely. Is Hirate present at most perfs, or has she been MIA like Garasu no Ware?

Is this the same one that passed out or nearly fainted on stage during a performance?

yes, she was one of the girls that nearly fainted in last year's kouhaku perf

She's in all of them. She was ok for their perf at MS which is their 1st official promotion I think(?)

But you can see her slipping a little from the performances these past few weeks and FNS is the worst I've ever seen her perform. She used to hit as hard or harder than everyone during perf but you can see her movements look so dead. Something should really be done to manage her physical/mental condition. It recovered after her hiatus but now it's slipping again

They should just let her rest, she's been so active this year that I am not surprised by the fact that she might be feeling down and I certainly hope that she will feel better.

PS: Funny how the comments are saying that she should quit and call her rude but, isn't it rude to judge her without even knowing what is underneath her skin?

^^ I think it's time to give the group a new impulse with the recent departures.

About Tecchi, I'm skeptical. Acchan was busier than her during her prime and she was still performing professionaly. The fact that she didn't even bother to lypsinc or look at the camera, yikes unsure.png She was so lively during her early days.

Not everyone deal with pressure the same way, I think that people tend to forget that. Sure, we can keep making these comparisons but, we can't expect a girl that are still just 17 to be totally full of energy every time. School, fans and shows are taking much from her and that we can all see that.

PS: What if the guy that came with the knife with the intention to kill had left an impact mentally on her?

It's easy say that she is unprofessional but, the real unprofessional ones are those that still had her performed at her current state.

It's easy to assume that adults are in fault. We have multiple cases that show that the management can be conciliatory. Anna Iriyama doesn't do handshake events because of her trauma. Multiple members went on hiatus when they couldn't handle everything (and she was on hiatus during the first half of the year). Some members have also refused key positions.

If she can't take the pressure, there's nothing wrong with reorienting her career. Perhaps she fits the acting path more and she did get praise for her debut film. However, I agree that the management is at fault for turning every single performance in Hirate & her back-up dancers and not letting the other members take more space .

So it's easy to assume that the adults are responsible? Of course, they are the ones that manage the group and all so, responsibilities fall upon them.

If they wanted Yurina as their center and it worked like it obviously has, if memory serves me correctly or maybe you can prove me wrong, it's still a corporate business so, I wouldn't be surprised if what generates money in their pockets stays untouched until it stops working.

My point is, do you think that they would let her away too long when it's their winning lineup? I doubt they gave her the time that she needed to rest.

You went in a self-contradictory statement there:

I meant that it was not uncommon for a member to refuse a center or a leadership position.

A winning line-up (business-wise) would favor some Hiragana members who actually bring sales â€” but that's another debate â€” lol

Yeah, that's true but, I think that in a moment where one member isn't performing at their best, we should be more supportive toward them rather than calling them names or to tell them to quit.

Everyone has their ups & downs.

Depends. Does having all the ones generating sales in one really that good of an idea? Sometimes it isn't.

You're right though, that neither here nor there.

Poor kid is being overworked to death and it's clearly taken a toll on her physically and mentally. Though of course that's going to be seen as a personal failure on her part- just look at the comments accusing her of being "unprofessional" "unmotivated" and "rude". But alas, what can you expect from a society that glorifies "workaholicism" at the expense of individual wellbeing, while stigmatising mental illness and writing it off as mere "weakness of character"? This right here is why suicide rates are so high in Japan and why they seriously have to reevaluate their collectivist mindset (South Korea has the same problem). Sure, there's something to be said for the ensuing discipline and wider sense of duty it instills, but when taken to such extremes, is it truly worth the cost?

Anyway...shame on the adults around her (including her parents) who put her in this position. Let her rest FFS, her sitting out a single or two is not going to blast the group into the ether of irrelevance.

IMHO

it goes both ways

Calling her rude/unprofessional is kinda too much bc most likely it's management who pushed her to perform anyways despite her condition

I think her case is more than just "tired physically and mentally",rather she looks like she's so done with being idol. If this is the case, then I doubt hiatus/break gonna do any better for her. Even if say she take break for a whole year, if she herself doesnt feel like/enjoying being idol anymore, perhaps it's better to call it a day rather than dragging things on.

And we all wonder why management keep insisting on putting burden of her being center when keya is more than just "hirate n dancers".

Thanks for the info. I used to love Keyaki, but with Imaizumi graduating, Manaka suspending activities, and Hirate continuing to deteriorate, it's been hard to enjoy them in the second half of this year. I like allot of other members in the group, but it's getting too depressing. I hate the direction management insists on taking them.

I made the gif on the left from this BiSH CM. The gif on the right features Momoiro Clover Z from the Kishidan Expo, held annually by the band Kishidan (their lead singer is the guy dressed in black). I pieced it together from clips that fans posted on twitter. Here's one.

Like some other people said, not everyone handles this kind of pressure in the same way, and we don't know what else might be going on mentally or physically with Techi. It's been a while since I watched a perf from A-chan's time in AKB, but I don't remember the choreography being that difficult overall. Keyaki has some of the most intense dance routines for an Idol group. Management even banned Fukyouwaon from live perfs because of this. When word got out that Ambivalent would feature their most intense choreo to date, fans were understandably concerned how the members would hold up. Combine this with whatever is effecting Hirate, and that compounds the problem.
