Interpol have announced the release of their new album El Pintor (that's Spanish for "the painter"). The follow-up to to 2010's self-titled LP arrives September 9 in North America and September 8 internationally. Update: It will be released via Matador.

The band recorded the LP at Electric Lady Studios and Atomic Sound in New York City with James Brown (Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters), while mixing was handled by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails) in London. That's the cover art, above. Watch the band perform new songs "Anywhere" and "My Desire" live here.

Interpol accompanied their announcement with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album, directed by Adam Levite. Check that clip out below, along with the album tracklist and a list of dates for the band's current tour. Source!

Yeah, I received the email today. I keep forgetting to unsubscribe from their mailing list, lol.

Antics was great, TOTBL was good as well, but the albums after those couldn't really keep my attention lol.

Evil was my favorite song for 4 years straight tho.
