  1. 1. When do we become human?

    • When the sperm attaches to the egg
      4
    • When we gain consciousness (late fetal development - newborn)
      15
    • When we gain self awareness (4 to 5 years of age)
      1
    • Other - Explain

What does it mean to be truly human or truly alive? What defines the beginning of our life as a human? Is it when two cells (sperm and egg) combine? Is it when we become aware of our surroundings? Is it when we become aware of ourselves in context of our surroundings and how other humans perceive us? Or is it something else?

I'm stuck between when we gain consciousness and when we gain a sense of self awareness or self consciousness.

Discuss.

When you come out of your mother's uterus.

When we take our first breath.

I think when the baby is given birth, is when a human is truly human.

When a baby is born.

If it's human/alive only once it's born, what is it when it's inside the uterus?
