it's been a trend since the 2000s though? What do you mean by lately? All of the F4 actors in the original Hana Yori Dango drama were in their 20s. Mao Inoue was the only actress who was actually student age (18)--the actress who played Sakurako and the actresses who played the annoying three bitches who fawned oved Domyouji were also all in their 20s.

 

And Mao Inoue was 22 when she starred in the original movie version of this and Masaki Okada was 22.
