Should I call myself a "fan" if I only listen to my fav group's music and watch a couple of videos?

Recently I got into Twice, Blackpink and Gfriend. They are really awesome groups and I regret I didn't follow them earlier.

Thing is, I find myself being limited at listening to their music and MV's only. If I keep watching their other videos such as shows and stage perf for a long period of time, I'll get obsessed. I don't want to be like that since I'm a sensitive person but at the same time I like Kpop. This is why my friends always make fun of me for not knowing "basic facts" about my fav group's. hell, I don't even know the members' hobbies and their chart rank on Music Bank.

I shouldn't call myself a fan until I know more about my fav groups right?

of course you are a fan, fan has absolutely no other definition than loving the music

now kpop fandom culture has dictated a few extra criteria but that doesn't make them widely accepted.

You're a fan if you consider yourself a fan. Nobody else can label you as a fan or non-fan, it's all about how you feel you are regarding your situation. People have different levels of how far they get into groups - some are satisfied just listening to the music while others obsess over every detail about the artist. Regardless of where you fall on that spectrum, if you feel that you're a fan of an artist then you are. You know yourself best chuplz.png

I've been with BigBang for a good decade and I can't tell you which songs ranked how either. Cause it's not something I'm much interested in anymore. I listen to all their music, watch their MVs. Sometimes, when I have the time, I look up some variety shows maybe. But that's all, I don't have the time anymore to be a hardcore stan.

The point of being a fan is loving their music, them as an artist, wish them to be healthy. You don't need to know their underwear's color or what their fav animal is. Useless info imo. Like their music, buy it, listen to it, enjoy it. That's all they want.

I mean, I'm a fan of Red Velvet, but I don't know basic facts about them. I just really like their music, and like Seulgi and Joy. You don't need to know every little thing about groups you like. Especially if you know you'll get obsessed. Just enjoy the music~

Yes, yes you are. I hate this idea kpoppers have that to be a fan you need to know their address, family names, blood type, zodiac sign, og hair color, whether they have long eyelashes or short ones, and that you have to listen to 100% of their music and discography and like all their songs.

Nah fam, to be a fan you just gotta like the members and a decent chunk of their music, it's not that deep
