It doesn't matter if i'm not japanese or the if the person i'm talking to isn't japanese or doesn't take offense, it's offensive to some people so i'd rather not use it at all. In a lot of countries, it's not widely known that this English term is a derogatory term. quoting the OP wiki link In the United States, Japanese Americans have come to find the term controversial or offensive, even when used as an abbreviation.[1] In the past, Jap was not considered primarily offensive; however, during and after the events of World War II, the term became derogatory. It's a derogatory term only mostly in the USA so people from elsewhere don't necessary know it. I used it once in H8 for that reason, it was shorter and I didn't know.
