A Japanese idol lists Classic Rock as her favorite music genre

Yumeno Kishimoto of Hello! Project idol group Tsubaki Factory states on her personal blog that she has recently gotten into Rock music and is looking for more recommendations.  Here is the 2ch post about her blog entry; the references in the responses are very H!P specific, but the general sentiment is that many people are happy that the newer generation is discovering music from previous ones.  With movies like Bohemian Rhapsody, it will hopefully lead to more discovery and as a Classic Rock, Jpop and Kpop fan I sure hope so!

Music genres can be so confusing. Like, I don’t really even understand what makes rock “rock.†I don’t really get what people mean when they say, “this song rocks so hard!†That’s why I feel like listening to lots of rock music. I get to sing lots of different kinds of songs in Hello! Project, so I feel like it’s my duty as a singer to study up on these things…"

I love Oda’s mom’s taste in music. You’d expect her to be into stuff like Adele or Lorde, but instead she’s a fan of Kate Bush. Of the 80’s stuff, she likes 10,000 Maniacs and Cowboy Junkies. She’s a great woman.

British/American hard prog along with all the basic, famous rock bands. She should trust her ears and just see where they take her from here. In any case, she’s not off to a bad start at all.
