I cannot understand what happened here- Asiana Airlines

Model flying on Asiana Airlines flight from Seoul to Paris, and during turbulence has hot ramen spilled on her thigh and stomach area suffering 2nd and 3rd degree burns. The airline has no first aid kit to treat the burns and the flight staff refused to make an open call to see if any passengers were doctors. A lawsuit was filed by the burned passenger and $100,000 settlement was awarded to her. Half to be paid by Asiana Airlines and half to be paid by the stewardess.

How can the stewardess be held personally liable for on the job injury suffered to a passenger? The stewardess was not doing anything unusual while carrying out her job duties. The airline should have some sort of insurance for these situations;

How can Asiana not have any medication on board to treat burns, esp considering how long they are stuck on the flight and the hot liquids passengers deal with;

Why did Asiana not land the plane somewhere and let the passenger disembark to get treated for her severe burns;

First of all i don't get why they have to serve hot ramen on a plane. I've seen a a flight attendant spill a bowl on a passenger but thankfully it wasn't too hot so it didn't cause 2nd degree burns.

The damages paid out by the stewardess could be a stipulation made by the plaintiff when she sued. The person probably did not like how the flight attendant handled the situation or the person felt the flight attendant was rude and uncaring when she needed help, adding to her emotional distress. Or she could of felt that the Flight attendant made the ramen too hot.  The plaintiff probably personally include the plaintiff by name in her suit.
