Personally it was the first time I got real friends, teachers were actually fair and they seemed to try their hardest to make us learn and think by ourselves instead of going after us trying to make us fail. I feel like more than learning stuff you learn how to figure things out instead of just going by what the books say. I was socially anxious about talking and kids making fun of my English didn't help so it carried into my teen yr. I totally broke out of my shell in college and stop being so self concious. High school was all funs and games, hanging out with childhood friends and bam uni, struggled hard. Not to mention I probably chose a major that didn't really suit me. Made lots of friends outside uni though, but within uni? I find the people too competitive, lecturers not really that great in teaching (but yea we shouldn't be spoonfed already anyways). After 5th grade I became more reclusive and withdrawn as an aftermath of 2 long years of being bullied until my family relocated to a different city for work.
