LucyyJ26 557
So a load of half dead bags o' bones at the European Parliament want to pass a copyright law so flawed about 99% of the internet will cease to exist if it passes - which it likely will, because the final vote is in January and it's the EU so no democracy here bois. The long and short of it is that if "13" passes, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and any other content hosting website, will become legally responsible for every bit of content uploaded. So for example, when in the past, a YouTuber uploaded something copyrighted, the owner of the copyrighted material could take them to court over it. With 13 in place, YouTube itself will be held responsible, being forced to manually review every single video on the website to make sure it "passes". With 400+ minutes of content being uploaded every minute, not to mention the trillions of hours of content pre-existing on the website since its inception, they obviously can't keep on top of all this. Thusly, their only option would be to - to simplify the issue slightly - ban 99% of the internet being created in or viewed in European countries. This includes, of course, any video by Kpop YouTubers. Do you review albums? Banned. React to MVs? Banned. Do walkthroughs of your album or photocard collections? Banned. Do album unboxings? Banned. Song or dance routine covers? Banned. And Kpop YouTubers are only a tiny fraction of the entire internet who make their livings using copyrighted but fair use sound clips, images, songs, etc. Please, click the link to sign a petition that will hopefully go some distance to stop this from happening. If you want to help in other ways, word of mouth is great! The reason this law - Article 13 - got so far in the first place is because enough people didn't know about it for anything effective to happen.
