ArticleBTS agency personally visits victims of atomic bombing to apologize for t-shirt controversy

Source: Yonhap News via Nate

1. [+459, -8] They apologized to Korean victims of atomic bombing, not Japanese

2. [+415, -10] They apologized to the 'Korea Atomic Bombs Victim Association', so Korean victims only. They didn't give up and succumb to the Japanese...

3. [+331, -6] Please read the article before commenting. They apologized to the Korean victims only.

4. [+30, -8] I like this, it shows that Big Hit's official apology wasn't for Japan at all ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

5. [+24, -0] Japan's own association for atomic bomb victims did not put down BTS or Big Hit at all. They actually expressed their understanding of the situation and said they had nothing to do with the issue. Apparently they even said that the right-wingers have been using them to encourage anti-Korean sentiment...

6. [+22, -0] Antis aren't even reading the articles. The apology was to the Korean victims. The association chairman even said, "Please do not use the agency's apology as an agenda in anti-Korean sentiment"

7. [+18, -1] This is so calculated, it's smart and I like it. It's an opportunity to let the world know that Korea was victim to the atomic bombings too.

8. [+7, -0] Japan's probably shaking over this ã…‹ Big Hit technically apologized so they can't keep kicking up a fuss over it which is why they hopped over to Twice next

The thing that actually matter. I hope people are aware of this.

The A-bombings saved many Koreans and other Asians from massacres by the Japanese army. But Korean slave laborers were killed in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. That’s the reality of it.

BH did the right thing to pointedly apologize to the Koreans killed by the bombs.

Wow this basically sums up the whole situation, and not only Japanese right-wingers, this applies to opportunists/antis too. those were the loudest ones, nothe victims unimpressed.png

Why only Korean? Weren't the majority of the victims Japanese?

It's easier to visit the Korean A-Bomb victims than the Japanese victims, as they are based within the same country, they've either sent a letter of apology to Japan, or are planning on flying out at a later date

They already did.

Since when?

Nice to hear. Didn't expect for them to follow through so quickly.

So they've already sent a letter and got in contact with Simon wiesenthal centre and now have personally apologized to the atomic bomb victims. Beautiful.

Hopefully this is the end to the story

Ok, at this point their intention is very clear smile.png

I'm applauding Bighit/BTS, apologizing to the right people, for the right reason, only to the Korean+Japanese victims, not bowing down to antis or right wingers.

And I'm also thankful that this also brings light that there are Korean citizens that also suffered from the tragedy, which not many people know.

In their statement i guess.

By apporoaching the korean victim, i hope those japanese media who tried to twisted the history and act like they are the victim and use this to slander bts these past week will shut their mouth now.

In the apology statement from a few days ago, big hit said that they contacted both associations and apologized.

I saw that before. But I mean formally apologizing as they did to the Korean victims in the above translation (though they don't really have to I just thought I missed out on the news of a formal apology).

If you believe Bighit didn't have to do what's posted in the OP, then...?

Bighit is doing way more then most companies would ever. And people are still complaining?

They personally apologized to the Japanese association on the 13th. And the Korean association on the 16th

"Our agency visited the A-bomb victims' association of Japan and expressed our apology."

[Officials of the Japanese A-bomb Victims Council]

"We talked about freedom of expression and such other problems, and we want to [keep people] inform[ed] about the atomic bomb to perserve its history."
