Normally we just talk about this kind of thing in the J-Fanturd or the seperate threads for J-Rock, J-Idols, etc., but since there's so many good releases coming out today, I figured it deserved it's own thread. That way music can be recommended and shared easier.

Great idea for this week, since it's honestly ... just massive.  Going to wait until I can get a chance to listen to everything on my list before I weigh in, but I'm definitely excited for Kobukuro, la la larks, Base Ball Bear, and Kuso Iinkai (new as they are to me).  And so very much more, really.

Really? I think the previews sounded okay.

I might have to wait for the weekend to listen to some of this. There's just so much of it! I think I'll listen to everything, though. Can you recommend one of the band releases to start with? I'll get it off iTunes Japan tonight and listen to it on my way to work tomorrow.

Hmm - of what's on my list, single-wise I'd recommend Kobukuro (their vocals and harmonies are just beautiful) and based on the previews, Hidamari no Michi is a great single.  Album-wise, I'd say Base Ball Bear's Nijyukyusai (29th on Japanese iTunes) based on the previews, since it just sounds like a really nice and pretty varied album on the whole.

Great! I'll check those out. Thanks. :)

All right - Kobukuro's "Hidamari no Michi" is ridiculously solid - it's been a while since I've enjoyed a single as a whole that much.  Has a strong ballad, mid-tempo track, and an upbeat track that all go well together.  I recommend it to anyone who likes strong vocals and interesting instrumentation.

Hitomi Shimatani>>>>>>>>>>>>

Mika and Milyah seemed appeling from the PVs and I'm looking forward to listening to their solo versions

Next interest would be kobukuro when it becomes available.

Unfortunately no albums this week that peak my interest. Might listen to Ballada or The Telephones' album.

Hidamari no Michi is already out on all of the blogs, so no need to wait for that.  :P

Manatsu Nagahara and Ariri Kudo of Sebastian X came together to form Otosata. They have released their debut full length, Super Good (+). Furthermore, Paipaidekami released her debut single, Painpu under Pink records. Seiko Oomori penned, composed, and produced the single. Miso Soups also released Me So She Loose. They're being overlooked by the over saturation of releases. I'm planning to listen to Forever Forever by Nona Reeves, Distopping by Charisma. com, Super High Tension by The Telephones, At First Light by The Flickers, Nijukyusai  by Base Ball Bear, Ego-izm by La La Larks, and Killing Me Softly by Tokyo Girls Style when they are uploaded.

Edit: Ai wa Itsumo Kimi no Naka ni/Futsu, Idol 10 Nen Yatterannaidesho!? by Berryz Koubou is arguably the strongest single they've released in years. It's edgy, competent, and exciting from beginning to end.

Listened to Mika x Miliyah's single already. It's ok but I've kinda played it out already since Fighter and the remix have been out for like a month already.

I'm probably most looking forward to the NONA REEVES album but I'm not expecting that to pop up anytime soon...

This.

I want to listen to Charisma.com album but j-mp3 didn't post it yet

I don't see this being online anywhere anytime soon. Maybe in a few weeks since they're a smaller, lesser known act.

Ughh, it's just solo versions as in one person just singing her half of the song.

Didn't the The Miso Soups' album come out last week?

Didn't see The Miso Soup album uploaded until today....thought it would be worth a mention. We're probably in for quite a wait until The Nona Reeves album shows up.

Going through the easy stuff tonight.

I love Ballada. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed when Namie announced a ballad best because I wanted more upbeat material from her. But it's clear she put a lot of hard work and thought into this album and because of that, the songs feel fresh again. I'm glad I purchased the Blu-ray version.

As for SHOKICHI, Enrai ("Distant Thunder") is easily the best song off of his debut single. That instrumental :ahmagah:

If I had to rank the songs from best to worst:

1. Enrai

2. THE ANTHEM

3. Hello

4. BACK TO THE FUTURE

It really sucks that Enrai wasn't made the A-side. If it had gotten the PV treatment that BACK TO THE FUTURE did, I would've happier with his debut single. I'm still looking forward to what he's going to do next, but I hope he leaves the generic EDM out of his second single.

Listened to Shionoya Sayaka's single and it's nothing spectacular, but the A-side "Like a Flower" grows on you.

Got Kobukuro ready to go for my drive to work tomorrow!
