JPOP girl group, Hiragana Keyakizaka46, was confirmed to be attending MAMA's premiere in Korea.

This MAMA show will focus on the rookie groups and artists + be awarding Best rookie Male & Female group.

With this announcements, fans began to bring back the rumors of Mnet possibly making Idol School Season 2 with a collaboration with Nogizaka46

Produce48 was similarly announced during last year's MAMA Japan as AKB48 producer and creator, Yasushi Akimoto, recieved his award confirming Mnet's collaboration with the 48 franchise.

Personally, I think this is smart. They aren't sending Nogizaka but the youngest unit of their only sister group. Hiragana also has 20 members that range from 23 to 16 and combining that with what I believe was originally 42 girls for Idol School Season One makes sense. Mnet should also use this time to change up the rules for Idol School because that was it's biggest flaw.

Also Hiragana is probably the more well known unit given they have that Netflix series, Re:Mind (which I do recommend because even though it's only 12 of the girls you get a more individual look and character for most of the members to identify better) + the 46 franchise is really popular even topping 48 as of currently. I really wouldn't mind this. I personally liked the 46 girls better because of this unit so I have no negatives except the whole Korea-Japan mess right now.

Thoughts?

also if it does get confirmed this goes to Kpop and Jpop fans, keep it. The whole we don't like you, you don't like me thing during Produce48 was unnecessary and felt abit uneased bc of the whole war on who's idols are getting hurt, how unfair it is, they are being discriminated against like this is Mnet bro they only see one thing and that's numbers.

LOOOL

I will watch if that happens but lbr

That being said, while I like Kanji songs better, Hiragana will def excel on a show like this way more

but wasn't the whole concept of idol school that they took girls without a company? how would that work here

46G had an audition recently and we still don't know what happened to the winners of it. Maybe they'll put some of them here lol

Will IS2 be a temporary group?

Definitely. I think Mnet didn't really know what they were doing with Idol School so if they jump at this they probably will test it out, but the group will probably be IZ*ONE's official rival like 46 was to 48

The 46 groups, especially Hiragana Keyaki and Kanji Keyaki, don't really have members to spare for a show like that, especially when they still have an upward momentum.

Maybe they can use the new gen trainees they haven't debuted yet

I don't think Kanji is participating or else they would had gone because it kind of doesn't make sense to only send one unit. Imo Kanji has more valuable members even though I like Hiragana better. I'm not as familiar so I can't really say how much this would make sense other than what I do know

It does make some sense if Hiragana is the next to release a single, which some fans are speculating with their new CM deals and concert at the end of the year. But there's also still the MAMA Japan and Hong Kong shows if they want to include all the 46 groups somehow

Keyaki46 is the superior group out of the entire 46 and 48 units, don't @ me. They got a strong discography and have always delivered top notch performances; their weakest link would be outstanding in a 48 team. Nogi follows after (and I think they have the strongest visuals overall next to AKB who has more than double the members).

IDK how this would work since idol school makes permanent groups, so unless this is going to be a half team thing - where the Japanese members are part time members and will promote half of the time (like a sub unit) - the rumors are either false or the group is going to be temporary.

I would definitely watch it if it happens but no it shouldn't happen. With how disgustingly Knetz treats the 48g girls in PD48, I don't want another group of girls to suffer. Not to mention, Korea and Japan tension is rising again so I would say a big no to this idea

What made Idol School different from Produce is that the group would be permanent and the contestants aren't trainees from companies. Like they would teach them how to sing, dance, and the history of kpop lmao.

Anyways Mnet needs to stop milking this. Such a stupid idea tbh lmao.

Yeah, but that wasn't how the show went lol. It was obvious at a point they just used Produce's process but originally there was suppose to a whole system where those who got eliminated trained off camera, but when a majority of the first batch left they scrapped the idea. I think they may try to bring that back abit and actually do it from what was actually promoted because all what you just said only happened for like the first 2 episode and that the small segments seemed to just be sprinkled in without real thought

As if so many ifans weren't equally as disgusting to Korean members like Wonyoung and Yujin (the whole wisple thing which many Knez also backed up mind you), but yeah, I agree otherwise that with the political climate between the two countries this would be difficult to pull off- which is exactly why I think it should happen. It's easier if idols not already embroiled in the political battle continue on without minding all that. In this messy political fight, these idol groups are a sign of common ground/unity.

Anyways, I would honestly be looking forward to this if Iz*one didn't JUST debut like yesterday. It feels too soon. I'd still indulge in it, but the fan wars and the rival thing would be too annoying. Better they go for a male idol school with male japanese trainees.

Knetizens will always hate tbh but Mnet is still a big power in the entertainment industry + seeing how there was support in the end kind of proved that the hate ain't gonna do anything

well International fans didn't like the thought of a 13 year old being this popular with a demographic that is also influenced by the demographic AKB deals with. I can't really say the hate was fully for no reason but with Yujin she was just annoying at a point and other than her vocal had no real personality.

The whole idea behind Nogizaka46 is the be the ''official rival'' of AKB48 ...what if the idol school46 thingy is to get a ''rival'' group for IZ*ONE...that's something Aki-p would do tbh

Also my opinion on that even though its just a rumor : RUN BEFORE ITS TOO LATE GIRLS

Idol School would probably air in the Summer or Fall of 2019 after Produce 101 Season 4 like how it did last year. So there would be a gap between debuting the groups.

As far as male idols go, IDK any label that would part with their acts. At least, not any of the more well known companies.

It'd be more interesting if they did this on the Japanese side this time. The 48 girls went to Korea to debut in a dual country group but are primarily based in Korea, well then the opposite should take effect. The Koreans trainees go to Japan where the filming and votes take place and they promote mostly in Japan.

It'd work out better since 46 is still fairly new and are trying to find footing in the industry. Keya-Hiragana oly just debuted in 2016 so they're still rookies. And if MNET keeps the rule that the trainees have to be unsigned to a label, it'll work for them to be based in Japan.

Milking two countries with two groups who can marketed as rivals.

That's a goddamn lie and we all know it. It's embarrassing that you even bother to bring up that excuse when so many Ifans were calling her "slut" "whore" "only good at winking"  and screaming about how "XYZ deserved center and not her" how "she would cause the group to be forced to have a cute concept" and etc.

So that thinly veiled excuse can kindly go in the trash where it belongs.

Furthermore, that doesn't even explain the amount of hate other wisple trainees got either. The whole Yuehua, Starship, Pledis gang was dragged through the mud by ifans to elevate their japanese faves.

At least admit the hate went both ways and don't sit here and play like it was all Koreans bashing J-trainees when outside of the political mess, J-trainees actually got a lot of support.
