Do grades you get in college reflect your level of intelligence?

No it shows your ability to study

This. There are so many different types of intelligence, and college is structured an exact way, so the ability to thrive in college just depends on how well your brain fits in that structure. (And hard work, of course, but some people need to do a lot more work than others)

Intelligence? No, Smartness, I'll say not entirely. Your grades depend on many factors such as :

  • your level of interest in the subject
  • attentiveness during the lecture
  • willingness to conform to the assignment
  • discipline
  • hours of sleep
  • confidence
  • food
  • maturity
  • personal issues
  • social circle
  • physical/mental health
  • if you actually want to study in college
  • personality
  • ....
  • and of them is smartness !

You can get better grades by being smarter. Top students aren't necessarily workaholic, most of the times, they're at the top because they understand fast and have time to balance the other factors.
