Thoughts on Bohemian Rhapsody?

Watched it twice last week, loved it even though there were some inaccuracies and it was a little bit fast-paced at the beginning, but Rami did an amazing job as Freddie Mercury

The second time I watched it I was sitting next to an elderly man and he started to cry during the Live Aid scene :(

The song is a masterpiece, top-3 of the history easily

About the movie, Roger Taylor and Brian May were involved, so at the end the movie tells what they wanted to tell, is like the people complaining that the movie doesn't dig on Mercury's sexuality etc...the movie is about the history and greatness of Freddie Mercury and Queen, nothing more, also, doing these types of biopics of rock stars it's quite difficult to put all their lives in a 2h movie, so of course they are going to leave things out.

I thought it was great, I think it's amazing they didnt go into too much of the sexual part about Mercury's life, it was done respectfully imo. They did AIDs awareness well, that scene with the fan was heartbreaking. they were some inaccuracies especially when he told them about having AIDs but I think it had to do with them wanting to end the movie on LiveAid performance. I like that they didnt show his death it ended perfectly.

Also John Deacon is slept on because he wrote many of their hits, the actor who plays him looks oddly like him. All the actors did well, Ben Hardly was more attractive than Roger in his younger years.

Loved it. I'm not that familiar with Queen, but I could tell there was some innacuracies, but I didn't have a problem with them because it's typical in biographics and Brian May and Roger Taylor were involved in it.

The movie made unfamiliar me appreciate the other members and their work in Queen more. The concert scenes were so good that it was weird that the cinema audience was so quiet, but it was interesting to see how age diverse the audience was and the majority not leaving before the real concert clip in the end credits ended.

That scene where Who Want to Live Forever was played felt almost, idk wrong?

it was great. not a masterpiece, but there's nothing you can do much much more unless you make this a full blown documentary.

there were parts that seemed contrived...like how they come up with each song, but i guess it's more of a character study so they wanted to pass those parts quicker.

  • 3 weeks later...

me being late.

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I knew there were going to be inaccuracies since to tell the story of Queen you'd need more than two hours.

I took my mom with me to see since she's a huge Queen fan and she adored Freddie(she still does) and she loved the movie.
