Zayn Malik talking about leaving Islam

I'm not surprised, Zayn never "acted like" a muslim. He drinks alcohol for years, smoke(d?) weed .... I know everyone's faith is different but all of these little details showed that he doesn't believe in islam as much as many others to begin with. I'm glad he's being honest to the public and with himself, it must be hard to realize you don't believe in somethng you grew up in.

What stops you?

I know you didn’t quote me, but for me it’s mostly because of my family. They’re really strict and not accepting of non-muslims at all. And I know they would be heartbroken and I dont want to disappoint them either.

I’m fortunate enough to live in a secular country, but most of my friends are muslims too, so it still would be diffucult.

I don’t think I’ll ever have the courage to leave Islam (officially), at least not while I still live at home

I know you didn't quote me [2] but I can heavily relate on that. The crazy thing is that my dad isn't even a practicing muslim, only my mom but they would both be so disappointed if I were to say I've been losing my faith. The even crazier thing is that my brother is very open about not believing in Islam, so the responsibility to carry is twice as heavy on my shoulders...

It’s honestly the same with one of my brothers, even though he hasn’t really talked about, but my entire family knows at this point. Muslim girls have it the hardest tbh, all that extra pressure is tiring

almost all muslims act like him nowadays tbh. my friends smoke, drink, date, have sex... even I do sinful actions.

I'm glad he can finally talk about it, I'm sure a lot of people can relate to him.

Yeah most muslims dont act like muslims anymore. This is the truth. The question is whether the have believe in their faith or not to determine they are muslims or not. People commit sins and show it off all day but if they still believe then they are muslim, if they dont then they are not muslim even if they acted more muslim than a muslim.

but if they really were faithful would they still commit all these sins?..

Every driving school teaches how to use the signals but peoole dont do it anyway.(I saw this phrase from somewhere ). We humans are not like angels. We have wills to do, or not to do. That is why rewards for humans are greater in the after life. I know many gays/party people/club maniacs in my cirlce of friends out there committing all sorts of things and showing off in their instas or twitter but they still believe in Islam and admits their wrongs eventhough they did all that anyway. And I know someone who dont do all these but is an athiest. My rule is I dont immediately judge someone as kafir unless he confess that he isnt a believer anymore. At the end of the day it is a relationship between you and god, whether you believe in your faith or not. Even myself, I am not that religious as well and still commit sins, but I am still a firm believer of my faith.

You make a really good point. I'm like you, I'm not really religious (I only fast during ramadhan) but I still have faith (?). I listen to Quran verses before exams and believe I will do well if Allah is with me. I thought it was hypocritical from me.. lol even my real name means 'faith'.

I guess most muslims are muslims only during Ramadhan and pray when exams are near cause I'm the same lol. Hypocrites, I feel that everytime Ramadahan comes, cause I value fasting more than prayer. Probably because if I dont fast, I have to pay(something to the poor, I forget what it is already). But for me it is good to be hypocrites, sometimes trying to be a good muslim because you never know maybe you will practice more as muslim. Cause I for sure am a different person during Ramdhan thats what I noticed in me, and others around me. One thing for sure, the one thing keeping me as a a believer, is because its the only religion I can accept logically and spiritually on why I'm even here today. But different people have different views and I think differently from my atheist friend. It is okay to think differently because having a religion is for yourself/your faith and not for other people.
