How do you just cherry-pick what you choose to and not to teach in school

I think both the West and Japan should acknowledge the symbols meaning that it has to the other side. The West should know that it was originally founded in Japan for religious purposes and Japan should be aware of the similarities of the Manji to the Swastika and the negativity behind that. As long as everyone knows exactly what the difference is since they're not the same, the direction and tilt of the two symbols I think it would be fine.

I honestly wouldn't put it against them for using that symbol

It's part of Buddhism for a long time and is often used on temple places.

The manji one looks like the Buddhist one though. The nazi one is rotated.

No offence to west but Asians have been using swastikas far longer than most of western even knew what civilisation is ,so a few years of war isn't going to make them stop using them

I think the point is that it seems the japanese people don't know that symbol was used by the Nazis, and that they barely know who the Nazis were. It's specially scary considering Japan's role in the war and their alliance to the Nazis....

True. There's a lot of censorship in the Japanese education system and I hope that changes.

Japan has been rewriting their history for DECADEDS!!!

That's why Korea and other countries that are under their occupation don't take their "apologies" seriously.

Japan has done a good job piggybacking off of US sympathy for the bombings and completely painted a new narrative for themselves!

That's EXACTLY the point.. Japan revisionary of its history runs DEEP and beyond just little symbols!

Well it's not a surprised considering Japan also don't talk about WWII much and their role in it as well.
