Western fans, why do you like kpop?

I read an article about canadian pro gamers and western youtubers that are very good-looking that many knets were swooned with them. But then there is always one comment saying that it’s easy to find those type of guys in the street. And although I’m asian, I have done many interviews with europeans, australians, americans for some projects etc and westerners that I meet were majorly handsome, and quite gentleman (?).

So if you guys have this quality type of men available in your country, why do you like kpop, in terms of visual, or even others asian artists?

I guess I like Kpop and KDrama the same way I like Anime. I don't view it as realistic or something that could ever be part of my real life but it's one hell of an escape from reality! Like, I can totally lose myself in good kpop songs and good drama.

I find these days Western stuff [particularly American] is depressing, mostly for drama it's about horrible stuff and honestly life sucks hard already so I like to escape reality when ever I can. and i'm just not into the new style "rap" that all seems to have a similar beat and i dunno, old school rap was fine but the new stuff isn't my coffee but that's cool It's not like i think others should agree with how I feel.

TLDR: Kpop/drama is fun and i can get happy and excited about it. Bored of Western Stuff.

Edit: So I totally missed the point of the post and it seems it was about looks. Simple answer, I'm not into Kpop for the looks, i mean they help, but it's got nothing to do with my reasoning.

I like the consistency of releases and the attention to concepts in K-Pop which needless to say a lot of Western artists lack...

Honestly, off of the top of my head of current artists in Western music that I find myself loving is Ariana Grande and Little Mix, haven't really given anyone else a listen all that much, I find a lot of Western music either stupid or annoying or a bit of both lol...

I don't really like KPop as much as I used to, I only listen to BTS tbh (I find Jpop girl groups more interesting now). But I guess when I first got into it, it was because there was a variety of music that I wasn't getting from western music at the time as well as consistent yearly releases that you don't usually see in the west.

As for the Korean terms of a visual, I find it stupid to stan someone for their face, as that face is eventually going to age and tbh might not look as good as it does now (they'll be old and decrepit and you'll go on to stan a younger prettier person), plus there are some great artists out there with average looking faces.

I don't see what liking k-pop/k-idols and the rest of what you said have to do with each other. A lot of the music I like just so happens to be Korean, and since the people making it are k-idols, I like them too by association. WTF?

The mvs are nice and I like the way they pay much more attention to looks, styling and all. They don't pay so much attention to visuals in western music

Quite shallow but that's the only thing that attracted me to kpop at first and makes me stay, I rarely find songs I could add to my playlist and I unstanned the only group I liked anyway

If kpop was just music I would have never payed attention to it tbh. Exo's Tempo is the only kpop song I liked in a reeeaally long time and I still dislike the chorus
