"This is exactly what i've been contemplating about for a while. My friends always say that you have to laugh a lot around guys because they will view you cutely, but I don't do that."

My friend: "Hey why don't you smile"

Me: "Why would I smile when it's not even funny?"

"Whenever I try to smile in these situations, it becomes a strange facial expression so I try even harder to smile naturally. Why do I even need to laugh/smile? The whole situation is super uncomfortable to me and I'm really concerned about it."

The entire thing is stupid.

Regardless of gender, you do some polite things when you are with people you are not on familiar terms with or when its your boss or you want something.

Ever seen men laughing when its a lousy joke told by their boss?

Or polite, short laughs when in a meeting or gathering with strangers and someone says something that *could* be funny?

How about the men surrounding an attractive woman who does bad jokes? Seen them laugh?

How about the women who are around when the men surrounding the attractive woman above? How much do they laugh at the bad joke?

TLDR: The entire thing is not about gender. Its about the other party and you and what (if anything) you want from that connection.
