are the "toxic" armys we all know and love really a product of the kpop community?

So, serious discussion. 

 

I've been a bts fan since 2013. i've watched bts' and their fandom grow at literal baby steps for years. now, i don't remember an exact timeline, but the "worst fandom" tag started to get shifted to international armys in about 2014, their skool luv affair (boy in luv) into dark & wild (danger) era. this was before bts began their slingshot to massive popularity.  this was before the fandom was actually one of, if not the biggest, fandoms in kpop.

 

so why? why did international kpop fans call i-armys the "worst fandom" (a title that was previously exo ls because of behavior in the k-fandom that actually effected other idols and their idol). Oh because we were "everywhere" of course. We spammed of course. We were in youtube comment sections that were unrelated to bts. Today this a common practice among i-fans. yet we can't shake the "worse fandom" title that was given to us for next to no reason.

 

some people seem to think armys today are so terrible because some "start fanwars" and talk bad about other groups and this and that. but when you think about it, armys and bts have been the ones targeted by the international kpop community for ages now. what happens when you treat people a certain way because of something that's barely true? in the end they live up to it, because it's not like being good will make the mistreatment go away.

Seems like you're trying to defend the toxic behavior. There's no logical reason to hate on a group that's done literally nothing to you and if someone does it because fans from another fandom did it to their faves before then what difference is there between you and them? Literally none.

The Kpop community started of all this. The old ass Big Bang stans that hates on bts in 2015. Oh and I’ll never forget the random HATE bts got for winning a billboard social media. The random jealousy was too weird and everything REALLY snowballed from there. armys have been on defense ever since. Of course armys are gonna clapback and prove anyone wrong, that doesn’t make them toxic. People forget where all of this started. If the kpop community wasn’t so obsessed with bts’ journey then maybe armys wouldn’t be all in your ass about everything! Armys do start shit too but that’s just the nature of Kpop as it is right now all together.

Yep definitely. Army is the only toxic fandom. Kpop before army was a peaceful flower garden.they don't even know the spelling of fanwar. They didn't trend any hashtag, they didn't give anyone black ocean, they didn't physically harass idols, they didn't thrash a random person just because they were close to their idols.they were saints.army totally ruined it with their tweets omg!! Twitter tweets are too damn dangerous and toxic in this world.

I don't think y'all are the worst fandom but some of y'all are the reason for it. Now the main reason why I don't like some army is because of the hypocrit (some not all). Now if I remember correctly a fav rapper of mine(cupkkake) post something like I wanna **** jungkook and some armies attacked her Instagram calling her racist names and such and I can't forgive that as being a person of color.

 

But I don't agree with other fandom treatment of y'all the army genocide was the most disgusting thing I think I've seen in kpop. Idk why so many fandom hates army and bts. Those boys deserve all of these awards they're given. I could only say because they are jealous of the attention that bts&army gotten over the past year. This type of success happens once in a lifetime. And it happen to bts who came from a small company rather then the big 3.people hates bts because they are from a small company not the big 3

 

But honestly if anything is toxic is the kpop fandom as a whole. Just saying

It's true post DNA era ARMY are really out of control but what's the excuse for the hate BTS and ARMY got since 2013-2015? Before the fandom saw any substantial growth? Fandoms spamming random youtube accounts was not a ARMY exclusive thing. It's just that because ARMY took it upon themselves to promote BTS in other ways that BigHit couldn't have helped BTS' career. So you saw that in droves. But that was deemed "worst" because ARMY were everywhere, am I right?

Because ARMYS is the biggest and most visible fandom on social media right now. The brightest light always attract the most moths. 

 

I think the "worst fandom" moniker will always be attached to the trendiest group and the biggest fandom at any given time. 

There are black sheep in every fandom, ARMYS including. That is not to downplay our negative behaviors, but to make aware that a portion of our fandom do engaged in less than "proper" behaviors. But that is the same with every group and every fandom. I have not seen a top 1-2 group's fandom not being called for the "worst". From HOT > DBSK > Big Bang > Exo and now BTS. Once another trendier group come along in a couple years time, the title will be given to them naturally.

 

It's cyclical thing, so paying attention to it is just a waste of time.

Sounds to me like you're trying to make excuses for the toxic part of the fandom, basically wash your hands with others actions, makes you hella suspect in my eyes. Someone bulling you doesn't give you the right to bully others, really.

It doesn't matter when it all started or who started it if you're going to expand it and bully others who have debuted like yesterday, again you sound hella suspects to me like you might be participating in those actions if youre so set on defending them

 

IDK why people hate armys, i dont, i think jealousy has to play a big part of it, but also some of the other reasons the op stated like starting arguments may have played part in it. Armys have a very strong collective spirit which is amazing as a whole, but it sometimes pushes them to excuse and defend some peoples toxic behaviours even trolls and toxic stan twitter.

 

I definitely dont consider BTS the most hated group when i've witnessed what people did to T-ARA and SNSD, they ruined T-ARA'S career with false rumours and Black Oceaned SNSD at their end of the year special showcase debut, plus they started ''slut'' rumours that they were sleeping with their seniors even before debut

ARMY weren't attacking everyone's favs during this time

In 2015 the most you'd see of ARMY was them hyping western achievements because at the time, BTS was doing better overseas than in Korea. ARMY couldn't even be happy about that because that year was fucking awful. Kpop stans legitimately saw ARMY hyping up their favs western achievements as dragging their favs domestic achievements when that was as far away from the truth

 

Then 2016 happened

The worst year followed by the BBMAs gate

and now Kpop stans will have to deal with the monsters they created.
