Are you pro or against wearing uniforms at school?

I saw an article about a school in France which decided to make comeback schoolchildren in uniforms. It's something unusual here but they are not the first ones: military schools and private (non contract) schools students have to wear an uniform for a long time ago.

I debated with a friend about this topic and she thinks it's a bad idea to wear uniforms at school. Personally I think it's a good idea and I would've loved wearing one when I was still going to school. I think it would prevent the bullying that some students have to live because their families are poorer than some others or don't want to buy them the new trendy clothes. Also, the rules about clothing are often very strict so students can't express their own. style anyway. And you don't have to think about what to wear, it's easier for lazy people like me hehe.

What's your opinion?

I never wore school uniforms, but i think it would be more convenient to have one. I was always anxious in trying to wear different clothes at least every week/every two weeks so that people don't say that i'm poor or that i don't have clothes. Whereas if you have a uniform, there would be no problem to wear similar clother every single day.

Pro. I go to a school where we wear uniforms and it makes it so much easier to get ready in the mornings. Also kids are mean and will bully other kids for their clothes. If you want to express yourself through clothes you can also do it on the weekends. The only con is that usually a school with uniforms will get them from one specific store which means they can make them crazy expensive

I was always hating about my uniform when I was in school. But after went university now I am thinking that actually it was a good thing because I wasn't have to think about what I will wear everyday.

But I disagree about this:

"I think it would prevent the bullying that some students have to live because their families are poorer than some others or don't want to buy them the new trendy clothes."

People were still discriminate some people in my school by their shoes, bags, coats. It is not about clothes, it is about people's pathetic minds. Sometimes children might be even more cruel than adults.

im in the middle tbh. i went to a lot of schools growing up cuz i moved around a lot. some had uniform, some didnt. idk, personally i dont like uniform because i dont think they look good on me keke. i went to school with strict dress code that was like ,, (for shirts) solid colors only so people would just buy polo shirts.i still have them and wear them sometimes (this was junior high) and i forget for pants, but it was prob like jeans.or slacks. tho i see the pros of it because i didnt have much clothes, sometime people would think i dont wash my clothes when i wear the same thing often. i just like it.

I'm pretty neutral but if I have to choose then against.

I may be a girl but I hate wearing skirts, wearing skirts in winter is unthinkable for me (I know some female uniforms are shorts/pants but they're the minority).

Also ever since I was younger I always hated wearing the same thing as everyone else, and about bullying, people will still think and say things like "look at how bad it suits them" and will compare how it looks on everyone as this time the clothes couldn't be blamed.

But I agree that for the poorer people it can be an advantage.

I like being free, looking girly one day and wearing a hoodie or sweatpants the next, choosing the accessories, choosing my shoes ... I would have snapped if I had to wear a uniform.

France can try it, but let's be real we are way too used to wear our own clothes and it's going to be rejected by everyone older than primary school.

I'm against it being obligatory. It should be optional and available for free for all students.

Exactly, I was just going to say that. Obligating students to use uniforms as a form of preventing bullying won't resolve the real problem.
