Imagine: you just formed a new kpop company, you guys don't have a big budget but you end up looking for trainees. You can't pick all of them, and to be honest you don't want to, so what type of trainee are you looking for?

I think I'd look for a trainee that has good passion and personality first. I'd try to find two of those types of trainees so that they can be good stan attractor and even if they don't have good skills they have a lot of passion. Then I'd try and find a good vocalist and a good dancer, or at least passionate ones. And I'd find someone original that can rap.

Ofc this is unrealistic, but it's like the ideal for me.

What about you?

I'd go in every festivals/academy/school/street perf and try to recruit eye catching trainees

By eye catching I mean people with charisma and star quality

I'd also look for beautiful vocal tones like Rosé, Young K, Jihyo, Sohee, Crush etc

The smart ones. The ones who have idea what the hell they're into - or the ones who understands it when it's explained if they don't. I want emotionally strong trainees because they would need it more than skills to survive. The one with adequate EQ.

We're talking about "idols" right?

Then I'd want people who loves to perform. The multi skilled ones like my faves, the ones who can sing at least like the worst of my singer faves and love to sing. I don't care about dancing skill - everyone can be taught to move to their hearts content.

Prettiness can be fixed :hoplz: although I did forget to choose star quality ones. Guess I can slip it in between.

Koreaboo? I actually agree with what your saying bc as long as they respect the culture it's fine by me but seriously? Calling me a koreaboo? That's freaking laughable.

They aren't being a koreaboo though.

South Korea isn't diverse and is very much a homogeneous country, so including other races in their music tends to look off. Yes, anyone can take part in it if they want since music is for everyone, but it would take ages for it to be considered normal.

I would look for people who used to train at other companies. Less time and money on your hands to train them.

Like gfriend for example. I think all of them trained at other companies (dsp, fantagio etc) or had dance training before going to source music. Except for umji

Thank you. I was actually a bit offended when I heard the first post bc of what was called a 'asian-only stereotype'. Of course idols will be Asian, it's called asian pop music for a reason. When I read her second post I had calmed down and was willing to apologise for my snappy comment and then I was a koreaboo? Like... Nobody has ever called me that before and I'm certainly not one. It's good to have diversity but not everything has to and I would prefer to have asian music preferably stay asian. So thank you for your nice comment :)
