The article is pretty stupid imo. Like we or I already know and aware of how bacteria benefit us daily, from food to medicine.
And the extract they are talking about are like sugar polymers so I don't get the point really of the article. It's not a big deal and most of those extracts are found naturally and have been used for ever and ofc cause no harm.

Interesting idea but at the same time it could be quite dangerous if something goes wrong. They're gonna need to do a hell of a lot of testing before this can go commercial.

We already know anti-bacterial soaps are contributing to bacterial resistance and the FDA has finally told companies that use anti-bacterial cleaners (hand soaps most particularly, I think) to prove they work or stop making/marketing those products. You're better off with traditional handwashing or using sanitizers (not that most people wash their hands properly).

Seems to me that if washing away all of our natural flora and body oils is some kind of crisis, the solution is to change how and/or how often you bathe to let them replenish on their own?

Washing away our natural bacteria and then spraying on some other manufactured bacteria is just this other company with a sciency name trying to get people to buy their product.
