How do you stay awake without coffee?

So I have three huge assignments due next week that I've started but need to finish before next week. My college doesn't have any exams so when everyone else has exams we have like a hellish few weeks of assignments and critique sessions due right after each other. I've gotten maybe a total of three hours of sleep this past week, until last night, when I got home from school at around 11pm and slept til 7am. I thought I'd wake up energized. but I tried to start working and my eyes start burning after 5 minutes. I can't drink coffee anymore because it doesn't work unless I drink 3+ cups in one go, and then i get heart palpitations and cramps and I feel nauseous. I also can't really afford to sleep anymore than I already have. So yeah I'm gonna go take a cold shower and hope for the best. If anyone has suggestions for how to keep myself awake please leave them below

Energy drinks, one can of monster usually. After a few sips it kicks in for me and I'm wired for work afterwards ( of course you have to keep drinking the one can to maintain it's effects ).

I really don't care for coffee or energy drinks, but when I really really reallyyyyyy need it the latter works for me.

I don't drink coffee because I hate the taste of it but often times need to stay awake towards the end of the semester to get assessments in on time. I just eat sweet things or drink hot, sweet things like hot chocolate, hot milk tea and such. Taking a shower doesn't work for me because it relaxes me and I feel like sleeping laugh.png

During semester I'm pretty much living on Monster (energy drinks) but it's exam break right now, and they don't help me with my focus or memory exactly, so starting from last week I was just going cold turkey. You do eventually get used to it. But then usually when uni comes back you have that one day where you're super tired and you're like, 'I'll just have one' and BOOM you're having several every day again to survive.

But yeah for things like that I rely on adrenaline and desperation pretty much.

I would seriously redo your schedule and find more time to sleep instead of drinking even more caffeinated drinks. That can only help so much until you physically crash. Sugar is an alternative but how much?

Water, fruits and minty flavors like gum and whatever. When I can’t drink coffee I just drink lots of whatever and the refreshing feeling keeps me up. (Granted I end up going to the bathroom like 10 times but it works). Energy drinks are terrible, they’re much worse than coffee so steer clear, and Candy has too much sugar that will just accumulate in your body.

Iced green tea

I doubt this will work for anyone else, but since I enjoy it so much, it helps keep me awake

Well let me tell you what I do.

I constantly rub my eye, yank my hair, slap my face, pinch my self, bite myself etc.

also even though reading usually make people sleepy but it keeps me awake especially if it's something good.

btw thank you everyone for responding. sheer will power (and a little anxiety), sweets and ice cold water are working quite well lmao

Idk but seems like coffee has no effects on me, I still manage to sleep with or without it lol

tea has more caffeine than some coffee unless you're desperate and are going to take ritalin/adderrall which are banned in some countries btw, taking power naps is good. that's how i functioned throughout highschool. it also helps me stay awake if im in a very cold environment but that could be just me.

anyway good luck for your assignments and to the rest of us with finals looming in the horizon, we'll make it through it too!
