Do You Think That Jennie’s Solo Is Too Early?

I mean I’m excited and all (ig) but why is YG suddenly giving her o̶r̶ ̶B̶P̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶w̶h̶o̶l̶e̶-solo songs and stuff? I know their a lot of groups whose members have solo mvs/songs but I would think that he would have wait at least until they’re in their 4th or 5th year. I feel like this could’ve been BP’s comeback instead. I wish for the best in this solo project. I just dislike how YG thinks he can just make the girls do all these solo projects without thinking throughly. Sorry if I seem like a hater or whatever but I just wanted to give my opinion on a forum/thread like this!

i agree, BP has legit 9 songs, focus on them ffs, dont start going around giving members random ass solos and as always just a damn single

Also if it flops he probably will lash it out on the girls or Jennie like he did when Mobb flopped and never give them solos again after a really long time

I think it only seems so early because of the lack of songs BP has as a whole group. Although yes, I do agree she shouldn't have a solo debut yet and YG should focus on the group instead, but he did also clarify later that each member will have a solo debut after too just that Jennie was first. Now idk if YG will actually go through with that plan based on his past history, but at least we can assume it's being discussed in the company. I mean some other new gen groups already have sub-unit groups and solo work (acting, ost, cf, etc...), and so I feel like this shouldn't be such a total issue. I understand YG also seems to want the girls to have individual success in the future without relying so much on the group itself, much like how Big Bang did in their career. I think by giving the girls a solo debut despite not having a huge BP discography will give the girls the advantage in the long run. This solo debut is probably nothing but giving them a good foundation for their individual careers in the future in my opinion. Plus isn't BP having concerts soon? This is a good opportunity to give them solo stages there since as a group they have less than 10 songs (i think?). In all, although I want more BP content as a group, I also understand why YG is doing this.

If you followed YG's History, you will see that he gives solo's very fast.

Winner and iKon had solo's even right after their debut! I think YG wants to show the individual colors of each member.

When Loona had Solo's for each member ,even before debut , nobody was concerned that it is too early.. just saying

For a normal group, it's great, give each member exposer let them shine individually, etc. But with YGs management it's the fans that are gonna be putting in a lot of grunt work to support each girl individually.

Idt this is comparable to loona. Their solos were a way to introduce a new member as part of the project.

Is she even going to promote this? isn't this just a digital single?

It's just a digital single no album . She might promote it for about 2-3 weeks (if any). After her it's Rosé and the Girls have been posting pictures of them being on stage (which looks like dance practice) lately. I guess after all of them having solo's they will come back all together and then i hope with a full album.

thanks! so I really don't understand this overreaction

hopefully the other solos will be released right after jennie, since with digital singles it's easier for it to be finished

there is no such thing as "too early" when it comes to yg. everything has always been behind schedule. but it would've been great if they came back as a group at least once before the individual solos. it would've been a great follow up to dddd's success like twice's cheer up-TT
