Do you wish Guanlin didn't debut in W1 and participated in IP like JungJung/Justin? You think he would've debuted in Nine Percent?

Recommended Posts

Also, would you prefer him in W1 or Nine Percent?

Cai Xukun and Nong Nong and recently You Zhang Jing are huge in China. Doesn't seem like Guanlin is making headlines in Korea... although he has a dedicated fanbase. The GP is more focused on certain Korean members.

Even though he's supposedly the "male Tzuyu" everyone in Taiwan knows Tzuyu. Only KPOP fans that know W1 know Guanlin.

Some of my Taiwanese friends told me Guanlin has more of a look that appeals to mainlanders/Korea instead of Taiwan though.

While Tzuyu has more of a Taiwanese aesthetic.

What if T-trinity was a thing in Nine Percent?

Also I personally feel that Seonho would've resonated with the Korean GP more, so he could've been our token CUBE MEMBER.

But yeah.

Which group would suit Guanlin more?

If you could have things YOUR WAY?

His level of visuals has appeal across Asia tbh.

And I'm happy he did MNET PD101 instead of IP. 9% have not released group music, although there has been a lot of CFs, reality/show appearances and solo stuff etc. The only gripe I have about W1 is that Guanlin has not been given much opportunities to shine, even though he was one of the more popular contestants (top 7). That said, W1 will be disbanding soon anyway, so Guanlin will go back to CUBE and they will probably push him a lot (maybe with solo CFs/appearances in Korea & China etc), before he is put in his own group with Seonho.

It's a really different appeal from other popular TW acts like Eddie Peng, Zhang Xiao Quan, Wilber Pan, Wu Zun etc.

Eddie Peng at one stage was very popular in China (he still has reasonable popularity).

Wu Chun had quite a following too in Korea / Japan etc during his peak.

Even with Tzuyu, some Taiwanese have said in the past that she looks more Korean and is suited more to Korean tastes, rather than Taiwanese - yet she is still very popular in both countries (as well as Japan, SEA and other fans abroad), and seen as a visual wall.

I dont think he has the look that appeals to mainlanders/taiwan. Mainland and Taiwan seems to have a thing for bigger deep set eyes in males if you look at the old tdramas and current popular idols in China.

Agreed, don't think personality-wise he would have stood out either on Idol Producer

Nah, I honestly prefer him in a group with Seonho. And idk if he would've made into 9%. He definitely would've had a chance with his visuals and likeable personality but all 9% members are also pretty talented so idk if the public would've warmed up to his total lack of experience. A T-trinity sounds nice tho lol.

He's not making headlines in Wanna One either though. Especially among the general public.

Although TBH he has a loyal fanbase.
