(context, suburban upper midwesterner, non-religious family) They didn't believe in censorship, gave me sex education books, and I was trusted to spend long nights with friends - but I was also a flaming nerd soooooo. Also did a study abroad at 16 in a country where drinking was okay at that age, and they were un-bothered. My experience wasn't typical, however. I didn't get to experience as much as I wanted to growing up.
