Dancing partygoers at a South Carolina clubhouse had their hands up in the air when the floor gave out beneath them early Sunday morning.

Clemson University sophomore Larissa Stone told Greenville News that it happened very quickly.

“So everyone was jumping. The beat was about to drop, and literally the whole floor collapsed,†she said. “People are under other people. People are hurt. People are bleeding. I had blood on my sneakers. It was really bad.â€

Although no one was trapped in the debris, 30 people were injured, according to a statement issued by Clemson Police Chief Jimmy Dixon.

The multi-floor building had been leased out for a private event, Dixon said. Social media footage captured the first floor collapsing onto the lower level just after midnight.

Police arrived at the Woodlands Apartments complex, which was built in 2004 and is three miles from Clemson University, soon thereafter.

“We’re just thankful that it was not any worse than it was,†Dixon said told WYFF 4 News.

Clemson University official Joe Galbraith told Greenville News that the party was hosted by the Clemson Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. It was the university’s homecoming weekend.

Property manager Tal Slann said the floor collapse occurred in a common area within the complex, CNN reported.

Clemson University President Jim Clements said on Twitter that he is monitoring the situation, and the school tweeted that student affairs representatives were sent to the hospitals where the injured were taken.

Police are investigating.

I've always thought about something like this happening. That is terrifying.
