Anyone here who get panic/anxiety attacks?

I went through therapy for anxiety & agoraphobia and something I've learned that really helps is to learn to control your breathing. When you're anxious your breaths tend to be more shallow, you need to learn to notice that and take deep breaths from your stomach, you should be able to feel it rising and falling. I do that 10 times, counting to 10 and then back again, counting down from 10, put your hands flat on a wall too, I'm not sure why that works tbh but my therapist told me to try and it actually helped. Also if I'm going somewhere that's unfamiliar and I know I might get anxious it's good to have something to distract yourself. The best thing is to prevent.

Ultimately you should see someone about it and figure out with them a way to calm yourself down that works for you.

I do. When I'm overwhelmed it gets really bad. What I do is try to control my breathing while I sit down and put my head between my knees. It does wonders, but you must be able to control it or it will control you.

Edit: I get panic attacks. I think it's different for people who get anxiety attacks.

I picked this up from rehab, its called the frozen hand towel method.Take a small hand towel and tie it in a knot. Soak it in water until its like all wet, ring it out so it doesnt drip. Then freeze it. The next day when you have an attack, take it out and untie it. It will take you like half an hour to untie, but for me thats half an hour I spent untying a frozen hand towel and not half an hour spent negatively coping with my anxiety. The coldness helps calm me down and my thoughts are focused on untying the hand towel.

The best thing to do tho, imo, is talk to someone. Work through your feelings with a doctor and tell friends/family whats going on.

I've had a couple, went to my doctor and she alerted me they were panic attacks. This is what I do: remind myself that it's nothing. Nothing bad is happening. Control my breathing. Rub my chest. Drink water.

Works great.

Take deep breaths. Also try grounding techniques. They help sometimes. Google "grounding techniques."

thank you very much

I'm a very social outgoing person but I suddenly started getting them when I first moved to Sydney. The most notable time, my boyfriend and I were walking to the local cinema at night when an overwhelming cloud of nope came over me and I couldn't breathe.

My boyfriend just took me home, breathed with me for a bit then put me to bed.

I had one recently, but I was alone this time, I just spent an hour freaking out, then cried then went to bed.

Sorry, this was no help, just wanted to vent since I haven't told anyone that before.
