Jennie debuting as a Solo artist is the dumbest thing i have ever heard

If GD, a rapper, can do it, why can't Jennie?

when gd did it big bang were in a stable place at the top, can't say the same for bp! they are at the top but they aren't really stable at all, they need a few more songs tbh.

some of y'all acting like jennie walked into her ceos office and asked for this. everything's planned by yg and his corporate team around money. jennie's current popularity = potential cash cow their team can milk faster than a blackpink comeback. they know fans want an album and the expectations are high for it so this was a way easier loophole for them.

Debut with PAK, two 2.5M songs in a row followed by a strong SOTY candidate . Looks stable to me

A lot companies make the mistake of debuting their group members as soloists too late, so let's see how debuting her early plays out - she might do quite well given her current popularity. I just hope YG's careful about how they choose to proceed, so as to not end up with another Miss A-Suzy type situation.

Edit: It just occurred to me that if they give Jennie a full album right off the bat, she might have a bigger discography than BP as a whole. If they're going full steam ahead with the solo thing, I hope YG gives the group more frequent comebacks to balance things out.

why are you comparing though ? she isnt GD and hasnt built a solo fanbase built over years of time like he has

also I doubt this is true though maybe she is making a solo debut but after the groups comeback

I don't understand the justification of being stable first before a member debuting as a soloist. What is stability? What is being on top? Who's to say that BP will reach that stability or reach the top? And if they do - WHEN?!? No one can predict the future, so why bank on BP being stable or at top before YGEnt can test the waters? The best time is now when BP is widely received by Koreans and has a sizeable international popularity. Plus, it's not like Jennie is breaking away from the group and going solo indefinitely - YGEnt is known to release many soloists within groups.

And what is this reasoning of Jennie "hasn't built a solo fanbase over the years of time like GD"? Has this reasoning ever stop members of Secret, Sistar, 4minute, Tara, Kara, etc. from releasing solo songs? Which one of them has a solid and strong fanbase like GD? None and YET they were successful in their endeavors, let alone the fact that Jennie's individual popularity and recognition surpassed them all.

The whole point is - why wait? Capitalized on BP's current popularity to help build their solo reputation. Wait like SNSD until their 9th/10th years into their career when it's basically dead and buried for members to start going solo?!?
