Like my godfather isn’t in church but if something happened to my mom, he’d be there. You don’t have to mix in religion and tell them you don’t want to do the ceremony. You don’t need to go to church to be a godparents, you just to be okay with idea that you’d step up and help the child out if needed. That’s my take on it.
