Can you believe TIME just said BTS paved their own way?

Big Bang weren't really pushing for western advancements as much until perhaps 2015 though? TIME is a bit misinformed in those regards...

But it's still a big deal for BTS to be on TIME, so congrats to them.

They said 2nd gen failed to "gain traction" not pushing..

BTS were not pushing either, yet they were still able to "gain traction". And due to this BTS gain media attention and were invited to different Western activities.

Big Bang did gain traction though. They had international appeal and helped open K-Pop to an international sphere. Who knows what it would be like if they were active in the current climate?

BTS certainly gained traction as they're an active group, ahead of Big Bang's time of activity as well.

Big Bang even with minimal effort in the west have scored collabs with big western artists like Missy Elliot. I feel like TIME's addition of them as a failure to gain traction is misinformed to say the least. Big Bang were the "western validators" of their day. It's why they were nominated and won the EMAs.

Times seems to disagree. tbh most Western media seem to too, considering no one in the West mentions Big Bang.

I agree who knows what all Big Bang would of did now!!

Almost anyone can get a collab.

It's not gaining traction, but it shows the scale of appeal. Not just anyone can collab with Missy Elliot, yknow?

I'm not a V.I.P or an ARMY, so I've got no real bone to pick aside from the fact that Big Bang have charted on Billboard's Top 200 and have broken international barriers. Least TIME can do is acknowledge their presence in the west.

At the end of the day the article is about BTS

At least TIME even mentioned second gen by names. Again, the comparison was about traction. Before BTS other artists simply didn't gain it. Maybe others will in future tho
