DSP Media used Dove Cameron's photo in April's teaser image without consent.

On October 4 KST, April announced their comeback with the 6th mini album 'The Ruby'. The comeback photo showed pages taped on the wall. One page featured the American actress Dove Cameron.

It seems Dove had no idea about her cameo in April's teaser. In confusion, she tweeted, "wait.... that's me?"

DSP Media has taken down the teaser following Dove's tweet. Meanwhile, netizens fired criticism against DSP Media for their unprofessionalism. Comments stated, "The agency is brainless lol", "Stupid agency", "They are embarrassing."

Even though the Dove girl has the right to do so, was that really necessary?

But do they really need to credit her? It's a poster.

a poster with her face on it, of course they need consent.

if they don't personally own that photo or the rights to it, they need permission

that's how it works.

the k-industry really is bad with stealing, they really need to do better

But movies etc use iconography all the time? Like when there are posters of x celebrity in the room, or when they are wearing t-shirt with whatever symbol. Afaik they don't have to pay or inform the creators of the product.

from Gary Elmer, a film producer:

NO LOGOS: If you are after conventional distribution and sales for your movie then you need approval for EVERY logo that appears prominently. This means turning every bottle, box, can, wrapper or paper around backwards. Conversely fabricating fake lables for everything shown is even better.

Yes to logos: If your independent film is not destined for greatness and wide audience don't worry.

I guess most of the time they're sponsored, because they're so common in movies and tv series
