About NCT 127's western activities..

I thought it was pretty obvious that they were intending to get a few gigs there?

I mean.. the whole summer they were appearing on multiple Buzzfeed videos, Vanity Fair, Hollywood Bowl, Teen Vogue etc. and appealing to the western side of things more..

It was a prelude to their activities for their next comeback which is smart marketing

I mean people are shocked another group is getting all these gigs but SM was just doing it all slowly and steadily which is what people are kinda forgetting

Like it's not as sudden as people think

NCT have been promoted as a global group from Day 1 ever since Lee Sooman announced NCT in his presentation. NCT’s greeting is literally “to the worldâ€. The uproar and souring towards any positive news of NCT in the west is soooo annoying

exactly

they were made a group to spread NCT all over the world and i mean the "fixed" unit that has the most english speakers is obviously a marketing tactic to spread NCT to the US

people are really erasing the marketing strategy NCT was in the first place unsure.png

What's NCT mean ?

 neo culture technology

 - Neo Culture Technology, a reigning K-pop collective produced by S.M. Entertainment that consists of an unlimited number of male members from China, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Canada, and America divided into multiple subgroups based in cities worldwide.

dont they have like 3 (4 halfly) speakers out of 10?

thats not even half of the group that speaks english tho. it would make more sense to make smaller group unit, with all english-speaking members for the US (in my opinion)

It's just fancy words that SM put together to make the name sound cooler. Mark has said that it also means N Cities which means number of cities that they will turn into their own city. It's a really nice name imo

No offence but this sound cooler than other explanation

I mean it’s not just the English speakers that are necessary in a team no? The other members bring the vocals and dancing, lbr a K-pop group with English only groups wouldn’t appeal from the K-pop brand, I mean it loses the K-pop aspect if it’s English-only

But NCT china has mostly all who speak chinese don't they?

where that "korean brand" part there?

or chinese market is special?

i mean if you're aiming for global, it kinda makes sense you gonna use "global" language, which is english.

so it would make sense to get all korean members who can speak both korean and english, it wouldnt really take that away from them that they're korean, just cuz they can also speak the other language.(just like chinese)

They're just taking their most popular unit like they did with their Japanese promos. They don't have an American unit ready (and I doubt there are plans but you never know) so naturally they're going to take their most popular unit.

America isn't one of NCT's main markets and as OP said it's just a prelude to their Korean comeback so they don't need to have all English members. They're doing it to hit the nail on the head that they're not just a Kpop group but a global group that expands beyond Asia.
