Saint Ren 4,272
I know I'm super late but I finally watched it and now I need someone to talk to. SPOILERS BELOW. Avoid if you have yet to see it. I really liked it, that ghost twist was epic, I haven't been that shocked over a twist in such a long time. I thought the meet up with his daughter was a little anti-climatic. The whole movie is about him getting back to them, BOTH of them and at the end he only sees his daughter, who's like Hi Dad, Bye Dad and there's no mention of the son at all and he was the one endlessly sending out videos into space, did he even get a reply before dying Doctor Mann is pure TRASH, he convinced 11 other people to do the same BS mission, knowing that most of them would die alone and he chickens out, fakes data and puts all of humanity at risk and then he tries to cover up his crimes by killing / abandoning his rescuers The level of scum is unreal. HIs "I never doubted my planet would be the habitable one" line, killed me. Overall a great movie, it dragged out a little too long, we could have skipped a few scenes to get it down to under 2 hours but oh well
BlackVelvet9 2,683
I agree with everything especially on the meeting with the doughter, like, he cried alone in the space for his kids and when he finally can see them again the boy is gone and Murphy was like "hi dad sorry I got a new family let me die with them by my side and get out"
Sohryu 894
yep to basically everything you said. only problem was the length. the first time i watched i was exhausted and i fell asleep in the middle but when i woke up it was still in the same place story wise and it felt like i hadn't missed anything. but i watched it a few more times afterwards to be sure though and I thoroughly enjoyed it. They dragged it out a lot but I guess people interested in the science aspect would have enjoyed it, it was a really good film overall

bromiscuous 1,178
I only watched it recently on a plane but the headphones they gave had really crappy audio quality so I had to guess what they were saying sometimes lmao. But I still managed to get what was going on. I feel like I need to rewatch though.
Saint Ren 4,272
3 things the acting the soundtrack those are not mountains That wave scene was epic! I was baffled on why the guy just didn't get in the ship and was standing outside to wait for Brand to be rescued, like dude, save yourself first! I only watched it recently on a plane but the headphones they gave had really crappy audio quality so I had to guess what they were saying sometimes lmao. But I still managed to get what was going on. I feel like I need to rewatch though. Even though I could perfectly hear it, they threw so much scientific words at me, I was confused for a good 40% on why they were doing what they were doing. Like when he ends up in the bookshelf and then gets rescued, I was like "magic!" even though they used science to explain it
Lolly21 2,103
The first time I saw the movie I was like "What is life?". I was so mindblown and it was so beautiful.

wretched 23
I fully expect this to get negged but I thought Interstellar was bad. Beautiful (and apparently very scientifically accurate?) but pretentious and self-serious and long. I guessed the 'twist' at the beginning. Not because I'm smart, but because I swear I've seen that exact story in an episode of some cartoon I used to watch as a kid or something. But then the movie spends half an hour revelling in its own faux-genius surprise. Seriously, he's floating around in the damn bookcase for forever, laughing and gasping in amazement. A good film won't even do that when its twist IS amazing. Subtly is underrated by Nolan, I think. But he's a good director, he just needs someone else to provide him with a great screenplay. If you read Interstellar as a script... How long before you fall asleep? Good movies have good screenplays.
Kyutiemir22 567
Didnt the daughter resent him towards the end? The last time he had seen her she was a kid and now she was a grandmother. So it kinda makes sense that their first encounter was short and awkward to me. The scene when hes crying alone watching a video of his kids got to me. I love Nolan films and how theyre always more than what they seem to be about. I also like his perception of time and how it relates to emotions.
