Keep in mind that Arashi will likely release an album before the year is over. Bonus points to anyone who can accurately guess the final top 3. ohla.png

A note to K-pop fans: This is not a thread for you to brag or argue about your group's sales. Keep on topic.

Not miss Amuro having sold over 200K more than Utada while in her second year

Utada's sales will probably get a bump due to her tour, but I don't think she'll surpass 400-500k overall for this album. Kinda surprising considering Fantome sold nearly 700k.

And Namie likely beat AKB out before the Oricon year is up. The question is if SAS will surpass both of them for #2. (No one except Arashi will get #1.)

I saw this list a couple of days ago and it's interesting how places 1-3 will end up really close, then there's a massive drop until 4-6 that are in another group, and then 8-10 are pretty much tied.

My guess:

1. Arashi

2. Namie Amuro

3. AKB48

4. SAS

5. Hikaru Utada

6. Kanjani8

7. BTS

8. Mr Children

9. Kis-My-Ft-2

10. Twice

Mr Children might end up a bit higher... possibly 5th or 6th. It's difficult to say. Twice might end up overtaking Kisumai.

And if back number, Kenshi or Gen release an album in time I expect them to break into the top 10.

It ended up being pretty different from my previous prediction

The only real big miscalculation was Twice though

Arashi will definitely in number 1 album if they release album this year, if expected to be about 700k to 800k. They look like not release album this year, this could be similar their case on 2008 at they decided to release best album to celebrate their 10 years the following year.

Namie could be number 2, her post-retirement sales boost could make her album pass AKB48 album this year.

Agree with you with SAS, Utada, Kanjani8 and BTS; Mr. Children confirm they release album next week so I could see they sell around 350 - 400k.

TWICE still have a high chance in top 10, BDZ still have a momentum and they start their Japanese tour until Mid October.

Anyway, I'm surprised that Utada Hikaru and Sandaime JSB decline in sales compared to their last album.

So, My Predicted:

1/ Arashi

2/ Namie Amuro

3/ AKB48

4/ SAS

5/ Mr. Children

6/ Utada Hikaru

7/ Kanjani8

8/ BTS

9/ TWICE

10/ Kis-My-Ft2

Arashi did release an album in 2008 (Dream A Live). I remember because I didn't really like it at the time lol.

I wonder why Utada's sales dropped so much. Does that mean people didn't like Fantome and decided not to buy the next album? Or was there just hype for Fantome since it was her comeback album that didn't continue to this one?

No, that's not it. The individual songs/singles on Fantome were all certified double platinum (500k) or platinum (250k) and the album as a whole has sold 220k+ digitally on top of selling about 700k physically.

With Hatsukoi, everything has dropped by half (digital&physical). It's not streaming that's the problem, because I checked and her streaming numbers aren't anything worth talking about. It's honestly confusing to me. 0u0plz.png

I don't think Kenshi will release an album this year. At least not in time for the end of the Oricon year. He has a single out at the end of October, leaving him only about a month and a half for an album release. Seems too soon. Hoshino Gen I could see releasing an album.

I thought Hatsukoi sales is about to reach 500k but now is only near 350k, and is seem to be stalled now. Fantome I think is come from her comeback buzz.

Kenshi, I expected him release album around Late 2019 - Early 2020.

Gen Hoshino, I think he will be in Top 10 if he release album: Koi - Family Song - Doraemon - Idea. Sold around 500 - 600k.

Sekai no Owari possibly ??? They wasn't released album for 3 years. Rain - Sasanqua - Anti-Hero - SOS. Last album they sold nearly 500k.
