Cube Entertainment Set to Merge with iHQ and Go Public

The owners of Cube Entertainment, the agency behind successful K-pop acts such as 4Minute and BEAST, have revealed they will float the company on the stock exchange. The agency said that in order to facilitate the move, it would first need to merge with iHQ Entertainment. The two companies signed a strategic alliance late last year.

 

This latest announcement comes after a busy period for Cube Entertainment. In September last year, solo star and sometime Hollywood actor Rain joined the agency’s books. iHQ’s own roster boasts a host of acting talent such as Kim Woo Bin, as well as K-pop acts such as 2EYES and Jay Park.

 

Park Choong Min, Cube’s CEO, explained the decision, saying, “We have decided on the merger in order to help promote growth power and adapt to the changing environment of this business. Floating on the stock exchange will provide a new cornerstone for us to build on, and will allow us to develop as a global company, just like Samsung and LG.â€

 

Jeon Yong Joo, president of iHQ also spoke enthusiastically about the move, telling the media, “This new arrangement with Cube represents a great opportunity for us to expand global business.â€

 

A meeting is scheduled with stock holders in September, and the move is expected to be finalized in October.

They failed to capitalize on Beast's breakthrough in 2011 and instead allowed them to decline immediately after, made G.NA lose her digital slayer status and fucked up all around with BTOB. 4Minute's 4 minutes are over. Beast was probably their best chance to become a top company and they blew it. They'll never get another opportunity like that.

Why do I have a gut feeling iHQ is under Cube? Cube probably got richer, bought back the shares,prob bought iHQ shares and now they handle iHQ's stars that was mentioned a few months ago. Now they got CubeTV coming up too.

Highly doubt it. SidusHQ was already huge before this merger. They have and will always have more money than CUBE.

Since last year iHQ (known also as SidusHQ bought controlling shares of Cube (50.01%). I thought that meant that they were already having a say in operation control. If it didn't how will this merger, change that now?

It doesn't. This was Cube's goal from the get go. Little no known fact, they tried to merge with Yedang originally because Yedang was already publicly listed from back when they were a big company. Yedang's CEO (Who passed away last summer) backed out and Cube went with Sidus HQ.

NoNoNo. Apink is fine in ACube which managed to keep up their momentum after last year success. Apink is in a rising mode since last year, two years straight. If Apink had been under CUBE, probably the company would have fucked their momentum and make them on a decline mode just like ALL its acts except Trouble Maker and maybe (maybe) Hyuna are now. Speaking as a B2UTY, so you probably know my pain after B2ST hit it big with Fiction and then went nowhere.

CUBE ENTERTAINMENT CEO HONG SEUNG SONG TERMINALLY ILL AND NEAR DEATH AS HE BATTLES LOU GEHRIG'S DISE
 
The president of Cube Entertainment which houses 4minute, BEAST and many more popular idol groups, President Hong SeungSong (49) is revealed to be suffering from ALS disease (or also known as Lou Gehrig). A representative from Cube Entertainment spoke out regarding to such ‘rumors’, “Although (the president) is not feeling well now, he does not have those widely spread rumored diseases such as Lou Gehrig, Parkinson or Cancer,†they ‘clarified’.

However, after compiling testimonials from some long acquaintances of Hong president, it was a ‘fact’ that he did have Lou Gehrig disease. According to their testimonials, Hong president wasn’t feeling well early of last year, and was sent to a famous hospital. He was thought to have caught Lou Gehrig disease, but it was insignificant then. In the second half of the year, during their family concert in South America, Hong President who joined along went to America to confirm his diagnose of Lou Gehrig disease.

Close friends of Hong President expressed that he’s having some movement inconvenience and could only stay sit on the chair. The agency however, denied any allegations of such disease by saying, “He comes to work on time and moves as he worksâ€. Reporters tried to talked to him on the phone for the past three days, but he refused to take in any. Hong President is an invincible legend who has been in the music industry for the last 20 years and had raised numbers of top stars. Started as part of a management team for singer Lee Yerin, he had worked with talented artists such as Park GiYoung, Lyn, Kim DongRyul and many more. He then worked hand in hand with Park JinYoung in establishing JYP Entertainment.

His life was continuously ’fearless everyday’ until he finally established Cube Entertainment and becomes a leader of K-POP. We once met up with Hong President 2 years ago. During that time, not only did we interviewed him and another composer in the Cube Entertainment building, he also personally escorted reporters till the parking lot. He did not say much and his pale face was kept smiling even when reporters turned around and leave. This short testimonial was recently passed to me by an affiliate in the circle. He said, “The management system differs a lot now†and, “He’s that rare type of manager that treats people with warmthâ€.

Hong President who has explained a new K-POP strategies through passion, and emancipates warmth to those others, we hope to see his ‘fearless’ look in the near future soon.

The progression of the disease can only be slowed down with medication, but there is currently no cure for it. The median survival from the time of diagnosis is three to five years.
