[Rant] Do you read Diamond no Ace?

Possibly a spoiler

So, the training camp is over, tournament day is closing, and what left are exam and jersey numbers. Furuya has been in a slump since the national tournament and Sawamura showed extraordinary effort and result in the meantime. After the rooster for the main team is chosen, now what left is THE ACE.

Sawamura has been overshadowing Furuya now. He is trusted to be the pitcher for friendly games against strong schools. Coach Ochiai said that Sawamura showed the result as if he is the ace which means he acknowledges Sawamura--from what I thought. Big but, Furuya is rapidly recovering. Ochiai said that there will be possible implications if Furuya is stripped from the ace position. To continue that, the pitching he showed at national (toe to toe against the champion pitcher) is the result of the growth of him shouldering ace number. Meanwhile, Sawamura is a boy who grows in the face of adversity, as a pitcher. In the end, Ochiai asked the head coach, Kataoka, to put Furuya as the ace (again).

I want to slap Ochiai, really. It is understandable, but still. So it's okay to forgo Sawamura's effort to be what he is now? I mean, how many times he saved the team with his steel heart? he even once broke for the team. Everyone is still obsessed with how Furuya was in the national tournament. But how about Sawamura? Does he not deserve to taste the national mound? being sacrificed for Furuya's growth again? At first, no one really takes Sawamura seriously (to be an ace) and took him as a comedy relief in the team; only Christ who totally believe in him. I think the team unconsciously feel Sawamura's presence as an ace.

I hope Kataoka have learned from his mistake when his team lost from Ichidai.

No I dropped it as I was REALLY F*CKING FRUSTRATED !! Agh just reading the title made me mad, and reading your post ........... things haven't changed since I dropped it almost a year ago.

Wtf ??? The author dragged the plot for waaaaaaaay too long and ruined it, I've never seen an MC as "overshadowed" than Eijun in a long time. No matter what he does it's never enough and he'll always be behind Furuya in everyone's eyes except Chris (even though besides speed Furuya's pitch are nothing special)

Sometimes I wonder if the author doesn't like Furuya's character more than his own mc jfc (maybe he's frustrated by the fact that Furuya's popularity never came close to Eijun's or Miyuki's).

And Ochiai ... oh Ochiai and his obsession for Furuya, I wanted to push him under a bus and as I feared he's still annoying.

What pisses me off is that let's be real the team takes Eijun for granted waaaaay too much. He would have been better off in another team, at this point he's more respected by his opponents than his pears.

I need to take a chill pill now laugh.pnglaugh.png

Actually, Sawamura is gaining his team trust as an ace but they didn't realize it. Furuya's mood as an ace is showing when he's overwhelmed and overpowering the other team, but not when they are in crisis (like how they lose in Spring tournament because of Furuya's meltdown--did you read it?). Eijun saved the team many times but, yeah, like he's underappreciated. I expected Kataoka learn from his mistake (I think he realized) and eventho what Ochiai said is logical, but considering their achievement and recent performance, he will put the ace number on MC-mura.

or I'll drop this series laugh.png laugh.png

I still check from time to time (my love for Eijun still refuse to disappear) so I saw some scenes, and yeah you're right maybe they do but the thing is they don't admit it and show it to him ! They feel it when he's doing well but I feel like in other time they just "oh it's Sawamura" while with Furuya the compliments and him being treated like a prince/god are a given (maybe I'm simply blinded by saltiness don't mind me laugh.png

Yes I read it, Furuya isn't that good under pressure and I saw Eijun saving their asses (like often) but when they sometimes showed Furuya during those scenes I kept on thinking "....ah that's it. Eijun is being used as stepping stone and motivation for Furuya's future arc and him getting back his ace number" Yeah excuse me I stopped having hope for Sawamura, he'll be the ace in the last semester of his 3rd year at best in my mind imstupid.png  The author destroyed my trust way too many times rlytearpls.png

I hope so ! He better have learned, well hoping they won't play for the ace number during their 3 years, like Furuya-> Eijun gets it -> Furuya gets it back -> Eijun swipe it once again imstupid.png  that's enough.

I don't even read it anymore so it's even more frustrating because I want to say "I'll drop it" too! But I can't even do that laugh.pnglaugh.png
