Five critics rate idol actors who recently lead dramas and kyungsoo gets 9.2 points highest score out of them. Praises were poured “the most prominent example of idol actor†“heavy acting beyond idol imageâ€, the others were seohyun, eunwoo and doojon Idol, I put an idol in this spot. But we’re not talking about an idol groups’ end of promotion or even the comeback with repeated music-broadcasting performance. We’re talking about ‘Acting-dols’ who are active in the drama landscape. Where the affirmation and denial towards ‘idol who takes acting’ themselves still co-exist. September 10th will be the first broadcast of Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Hundred Days Husband’, following ‘Let’s Eat 3′ which finished early just awhile ago. Both dramas are in contrast a sageuk and a modern play, even so they’re equal in point of having an active idol-group member as the male lead. When he’s doing his acting activity, D.O., member of a top idol group EXO, goes with the name Doh Kyungsoo. One of the idols who receive recognition for their acting ability, as he received prizes such as last year Blue Dragon’s Awards ‘Best Newcomer’ and so on. Rather than sticking to ‘Actors who are originally Idols’ label, we should focus on the acting skills and potentials of each actors. We asked for the acting-score of 6 acting-dols (Yoon Dojoon, Bona, Cha Eunwoo, Seohyun, Doh Kyungsoo, Dasom) who have been active as lead roles in recent dramas, or are due to take one in near time. The five critics who participated in this survey (Gong Hee-jung, Kim Gyo-suk, Kim Sun-young, Jung Deok-hyun, Ha Jae-geun) mostly made positive evaluation. Towards Doh Kyungsoo who received an average 9.2 score, they poured in praises such as, “An example of the most prominent ‘acting-dol’ for recent timeâ€, “Acting skill that overpowers (goes beyond) his boyish imageâ€, etc. comments: 1. [+505, -13] Looking at Doh Kyungsoo’s filmography, the stories are about a hallucination, a psychopath, a student in a movie that talks about irregular workers, an island countryside boy, a visually impaired person, a DVD-room part timer, a college student that soon to be a rookie director, a soldier under suicide warning, a prince who lost his memory, a North Korean soldier… he built his acting experience while taking so many unusual roles, right. Putting fans-bias aside, experts and majority of the general public acknowledge his good acting. 2. [+368, -18] Doh Kyungsoo-nim. Your voice are really nice~~ 3. [+295, -5] For Doh Kyungsoo, seems that the spectrum of his acting is really wide, though. That’s why, when he entered movie and drama landscape, he just appeared like the characters themselves, then people discover that those are actually played Doh Kyungsoo. This happens often. Especially, for movie ‘With God’ ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ I’d thought, where did they find the person who play the Custody Sergeant from. 4. [+193, -3] Saw EXO D.O. in ‘With God’, and rewatched the movie again. 5. He has the gaze of an actor… I think it’s rather cool to see being active as both actor and singer at the same time. I found that he’s also cool as the idol D.O. on the stage. Fighting! 8. [+41, -1] Just by looking at the roles that he takes until now, it seems that Doh Kyungsoo is an actor with a wide-ranging spectrum. Whether the role is big, or small. Whether the character is nice, or evil. Seems that he wanted to try them all and steadily did a good job about it. That’s really so diverse of him. 9. Indeed the most prominet actors in recent time. 14. [+16, -1] When he appeared in ‘It’s Okay, That’s Love’, I never once thought that he was an idol. His voice is the real deal. 15. [+15, 0] In SM, that are in drought of good actors, Doh Kyungsoo is the most talented one. On top of that, he’s also a popular member in EXO. Although he has such a strong potential to have a successful solo singing career, I can see him doing better in the acting field. Overall, Kyungsoo is talented. He very slowly started from minor and supporting roles to prove his acting ability and now is getting lead roles that are well-deserved. He doesn't leave you with a bad taste in your mouth because he's actually good (and has a good eye for projects too). Looking forward to his new drama! Cha Eun Woo? you can fill in the gap between number 1 & 2 with Im Siwan and Lee Joon. imo even Seohyun still above those 2 in terms of acting (I salute her acting in her recent drama).
