But now, after I somehow knew that he is an asshole, I am starting to think that I deserve better. I got higher education than him, I get better position in the office, and my friends said that I am pretty. If I go out more, I will probably meet better guy.

People who get abused/manipulated may know deep inside they don't deserve that but the heart wants what it wants... You make up dumb excuses for their behaviour, blame yourself...
